Who was the "most Irish" US President?
One would probably answer, JFK. However, wrong.
Correct answer - Andrew Jackson, a founder of today's Democratic Party. His parents were both born in Ireland. They left County Antrim for the New World in 1765, two years before Andrew was born.

Here's your (not so) totally useless fact(s) of the day:

The outdoor temperature can be estimated to within several degrees by timing the chirps of a cricket. It is done this way: count the number of chirps in a 15-second period, and add 37 to the total. The result will be very close to the actual Fahrenheit temperature. This formula, however, only works in warm weather. (Try it!)

Here's your (not so) totally useless fact(s) of the day:

The vignette on the reverse of the five-dollar note depicts a likeness of the front of the Lincoln Memorial as it appeared in 1922 when it was first dedicated. At that time, there were only 48 states that made up the United States of America. The names of 26 states were engraved on the front of the Memorial. This is why only the names of 26 states appear in the vignette on the reverse of the five-dollar note. In the upper frieze of the facade in the vignette the states are from left to right: Arkansas, Michigan, Florida, Texas, Iowa, Wisconsin, California, Minnesota, Oregon, Kansas, West Virginia, Nevada, Nebraska, Colorado, and North Dakota. In the lower frieze from left to right the names of the states are: Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Georgia, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, Carolina, Hampshire, Virginia and New York.

It is a fact that more than 60 million people worldwide are affected by a fear of Friday the 13th. This fear causes these people to not drive a car, leave the house, or even get out of bed. There is a significant increase in traffic accidents on that particular day.

The phobia is called friggatriskaidekaphobia. (frig-uh-trisk-eye-deck-uh-pho-bee-uh)

Here's your (not so) totally useless fact(s) of the day:

The State of Nevada first legalized gambling in 1931. At that same time, the Hoover Dam was being built and the federal government did not want its workers (who earned 50 cents an hour) to be involved with such diversions, so they built the town of Boulder City to house the dam workers. To this day, Boulder City is the only city in Nevada where gambling is illegal. Hoover Dam is 726 feet tall and 660 feet thick at its base. Enough rock was excavated in its construction to build the Great Wall of China. Contrary to old wives' tales, no workers were buried in the dam's concrete.

How many reasons are there for an entertainer to change his or her name? Here's an uncommon one: when your name is that of the father of relativity. Actor and director Albert Brooks started out in life named Albert Einstein. His brother, David Einstein, also changed his name to become a celebrated daredevil -- to "Super Dave" Osborne.
