Some positive news coming out of development camp regarding Jankowski

So what i saw from Jankowski is that he is a good skater, he doesn't seem to be moving fast out there but he was always with the play. He made a couple good passes but his two best plays were a drive to the net where he shielded the puck from the defender and got a shot off, and the other was a play where he used his reach to essentially wrap the puck around a defender (think like a one handed forsberg shootout move where instead he taps the puck around the defender to himself on the other side) and passed it cross crease for what should have been a sure goal (the player whom I can't remember missed). Did not look out of place (which is huge because he was facing better competition than in stanstead) and was actually one of the better prospects out there.

Gaudreau still looked tiny. I remember a play where he got hit fairly decently who I think was James Martin, but he may not have been he smallest player on the ice. Dustin Sylvester looked pretty dmn close in stature. FWIW I asked Connie if Gaudreau was truly 5'8'' and he said yes, but take that with a grain of salt.

Besides Baertschi, Gaudreau is our most skilled prospect.

As a freshman he put 44 points in 44 NCAA games for the National Champions, Boston College. One point less then his teammate Chris Kreider, (whos a pretty highly touted prospect and showed why for the Rangers in the playoffs) while being 26 months younger.

I'm really hoping Gaudreau turns into Marty St. Louis 2.0 for the Flames...and we don't fuck up by letting go of him.

Jankowski will be playing in the NCAA this year, not the USHL.

Im sure most Flames fans heard that Clay Wilson signed in the KHL and the Flames have terminated his contract.

He was probably

8-9ish on the depth chart probably.

Feaster was hoping to open up 2-3 roster spots. We now hav 47.

It could had been a mutual agreement for him to go to Russia, since he did look decent in his time with the Flames, but was probably the best defenseman on the Heat. Hope he does well in the KHL, and who knows, maybe he will be like Gio.

Hudler got hurt in the KHL and is out for at least a month. Cervenka is apparently rumoured to be replacing him.

Thankfully he should be good to go if the season gets started in nov/dec/jan.

Hudler should be returning in November, I heard his injury was only going to keep him out for a month. If there is to be a season, he should be good by December/January. My fear is that if there is no season, we could lose Cervenka and he might end up being a stud.

Hitmen/Oil Kings game is on Sportsnet One now, and on Saturday, October 20, Sportsnet one will be playing Abbotsford vs Chicago from the AHL, as a heads up. And Sportsnet one is also playing Toronto vs whatever the buffalo farm team is tomorrow at 5pm eastern

If you guys wanted a bit of a fix

Jankowski scored 2 goals and was named the 1st star in Providence's opening game. Apparently the team they were playing is pretty bad, but its a solid start for him.

Gillies played the first two periods also and saved all 14 shots he faced, apparently the coach said he would pull him after the 2nd depending on the score.

Brossoit and Wotherspoon have been invited to Canadas WJ Camp.

Gaudreau, Sieloff and Gillies have been invited to the USA WJ Camp.

Granlund has been invited to Finlands WJ Camp.

Brossoit has a solid chance to be the 2/3 goalie for Canada, although I wouldnt be suprised if Canada brought Paterson as the third goalie for some experience for next year, so who knows.

Wotherspoon is in tough, he will probably need to have a great camp to make the team, im just glad that his play this year has been recognized by Hockey Canada.

Gaudreau will likely be playing on the 1st or 2nd line for team USA.

Gillies will make team USA, they only named three goalies to the invite roster. Gibson will likely be the starter, so Gillies will be the 2/3 goalie.

Sieloff has a decent chance of making the team, he played with Trouba last year, which may help him out. Not to mention he is an awesome hitter.

Granlund will likely be playing on the first or 2nd line for Finalnd

Boom Boom Bam baby. Either the Flames make the playoffs or get a chance at the first overall pick. Slim chance, but we could still move up pretty high, and stock another good prospect. Since we took a huge lonhshot with Jankowski, I'd assume we'll take a more safe draft choice this coming draft. But just imagine how sick it would be to get a top 3 choice, if it actually happened.

Cervenka has a blood clot. Hes skating and working out, but cant take contact. No idea how long he will be out for.

Tanguay - Cammalleri - Iginla
Glencross - Hudler - Baertschi
Comeau - Backlund - Stempniak
Stajan - Jones - Jackman

Giordanno - Bouwmeester
Wideman - Sarich
Butler - Babchuck/Smith

Kiprusoff
Irving/Karlsson

I guess we're looking at something like that.

Not sure if they will have Hudler playing center.

Id put Wideman up with Bouwmeester and play Giordano with either Brodie or Sarich.

Not gonna lie totally forgot about Brodie lol, not on the roster page haha. And I think Hudler will likely play centre until Cervenka is back.

Tanguay says he has been asked by coaching staff to make the move to the centre

Wonder if they will have Cammy/Tanguay centering the top two lines to start the year or until Cervenka is ready.

Backlund has been playing wing overseas and is doing pretty good.

I wonder how much line shuffling Hartley will do. Brent did it far too much imo

Cervenka is coming over. If not right away it sounds like hes close to being able to practice.

"I can tell you that after speaking with his agent today, his agent feels he's a whole lot closer than any of us had expected," Flames general manager Jay Feaster told CalgaryFlames.com. "Basically, where we are right now is he is able to travel and the doctors that have been taking care of him over in the Czech Republic are quite optimistic about how quickly he'll be able to start practicing.
