So the blue in my hair is staying WONDERFULLY, very very little wash out, but it's stained the ends of the blonde and it turned it a weird green-y colour. I feel a little like a mermaid now, and as awesome as that is, I want it gone. I've tried sulfate shampoos and dish soap but not a lot came out and I don't want to dry out my ends too much. Any ideas? Or will I just have to chop it off?

you could (in theory) try a really really really dilute bleach cocktail. Like, 1/5 or less bleach to conditioner ratio and check it constantly.

I would only try to curl it with heat if it says that it's heat-safe.
All things considered, you're probably best off buying a human hair extension. I would be so afraid that I'd melt anything else :iik:

if it calls for ..
20 vol....use whatever brand it usually doesnt make a diffence.

but if its something else - like shades eq processing solution. they are completely different and it will not work out.

it didn't say anything about being heat safe or not, and on google some people said yes and some said no hah. so i bought it and i'll just test it on the end and if it doesnt work then oh well it was only $4. i know human hair is best but i'm way too cheap to pay for that lol

Guys, I need ideas for the best motus operandi for my sister...

Her natural hair colour is a level 3-4ish brown, she wants to dye it to a level 2 brown but also bleach out a few streaks and dye them purple. I told her to let me help her so she doesn't destroy her hair. I'd be buying all my supplies from Sally's. (what's the best brand of superbright colour dye to use? I've used Manic Panic in the past but it doesn't always last...)

This is what I was thinking would be easiest/result in the least damage possible for her hair:

- get her hair trimmed/cut the day before
- separate out hair, dye it using foils and brush *first* (with areas to be bleached foiled out with conditioner)
- wash out dye + blow dry it, then foil hair surrounding spots to be bleached with conditioner.
- bleach streaks, again using foils. I'd be bleaching with 20vol and checking every 10 minutes.
- once light enough, rinse out hair + blow dry
- let sit overnight, check in the morning to see if it's light enough, do round 2 of bleach foils if necessary
- dye bleached streaks purple (should I be using a filler colour here?)

Andrea, I don't have any suggestions for the dying process but just fyi! A friend of mine has purple streaks plus dark hair, and she stains them every second day with purple shampoo to keep the color alive. She only died them once and this has worked well for her... But just keep in mind the shampoo would strip out the other color, so really its staining, not helping keep the color.

I have no advice on making the whole process less damaging or anything, but IMO the best brght and long lasting semi-permanents are Special Effects. You can get them at Sanctuary on Whyte ave, and they just restocked everything. It is pricier at $20. But if she jut wants a few streaks this bottle will seriously last like a year. It's amazing.

Ooh, thanks Sara, I'll stop by Sanctuary this week.

I'm trying to convince her to just dye her hair and let me make her some clip-in extensions, it would be much less hassle (lol).

I STILL haven't dyed my hair lol. I've had the bleach and dye for 2-3 months but I just can't find the time. I try to wait til the kids are asleep but then I'm too tired haha

just do it all in one.

put bleach in the foils where you want the purple... once the foils are in.. go in between them with the level 2.

keep it in till the foils are light enough... they can still be yellow.

rinse and shampoo... then at the sink towel dry her hair... slap the purple on the blonde chunks. put a cap on and put her under the dryer for about 30 mins... rinsne out and condition
