Way back in 1954, the master of suspense, Alfred Hitchcock, exploited a little phenomenon called voyeurism to amp up the tension in his classic film Rear Window. To this day, the titillating power of watching others, especially when we shouldn't be, has remained the cornerstone of popular entertainment. I mean, how else can we account for the staying power of reality television?
