CULTURE VULTURE: Impending alien bloodbath?

If you're not already hiding in your basement with a tin foil hat on your head then you probably haven't seen these two eerily real looking videos of UFOs flying over Haiti and the Dominican Republic yet. But for those of you who have, and who were smart enough to prepare for the impending alien bloodbath, we're here to tell you that we've downgraded to amber alert and it's finally safe to emerge.

Because now it seems that, rather than a close encounter of the third kind, the videos in question were the genius work of a mysterious French FX artist who goes only by the name of "Barzolf." and who the LA Times has linked to (surprise surprise) director Michelle Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind), whose own hoax Rubik's cube video took YouTube by storm only last year. Made entirely on his MacBook with off the shelf 3d animation programs including vue 6, "Barzolff" claims the videos were designed, not as a hoax, but as a sociological experiment that was conceived while researching for a new feature film project.
