MUSIC VIDEO: Moby (ft. Aynzil and the 419 Crew) - "Alice"
Back in 1999 when every track from his breakthrough album Play was in every car ad on television it was still taboo for a musician to be caught discussing business in public and Moby caught his fare share of "sell-out" flack from fans and critiques. These days, talking about how Radiohead or Pennywise are finding new ways to market themselves and their new albums online and to advertisers seems to takes precedent over reviews of the albums themselves. So, like him or lump him, it seems that Moby's pre-millennial search for the new music business model pretty much paved the way for the modern musician. Just an interesting aside. Now, in actual music news... Moby's finally released his first single since 2005 and, believe it or not, it's actually pretty rad. Featuring Aynzil and 419 Crew, it's a hard edged blend of fast rap and the smooth-synth soul that made Moby famous. It also sees Moby taking a back seat to his guests, which may have been the right move on this track.
