REVIEW: Von Bondies - Love, Hate, and Then There's You
C'mon... c'mon... seriously C'MON!! VB, you had five years to follow up with that catchy tune with this... utterly underwhelming release. My ultimate test: if the tunes can get me going in spite of a crap car stereo, it's a definite keeper. But that's not the case with Love, Hate, and Then There's You. What we have here is a bad soundtrack to a low-grade wakeboarding video. (Gee, is there such thing is a high-grade wakeboarding vid? If there is, lemmee know!) The tracks "21st Birthday", "Accidents Will Happen", and "Modern Saints" may be the best and only tracks worth listening to more than a couple times or downloading. The rest fall into the "okay" category, as in, "Yeah, it's okay for you to take out my wisdom teeth without a local anaesthetic, but I'd prefer if you didn't" kind of way. If you want your fix from this genre, go back in time to 2004, or go listen to some Franz Ferdinand/Bloc Party. Friends don't let friends listen to bad wakeboarding music.
