No word of a lie, Honeysuckle Weeks by The Submarines has just become my favourite album of 2009. I burned out from too much emo and drama last year. Honeysuckle Weeks is refreshingly upbeat and well-crafted... I’m wondering why I haven’t heard of this band before?
After a quick web search, I realize that The Submarines have been navigating just below my radar. They are the group whose songs you recognize but never knew the name of the band. Their song “You, Me, and the Bourgeoisie, is that catchy number in all of the iPhone 3G ads. They were also featured on the killer Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist soundtrack with “The Wake Up Song”.
I like my hiphop on the weekends and my metal when I feel like breaking stuff, but Honeysuckle Weeks has found a place in my need-to-chill-out mix.
