REVIEW: Ladytron - Velocifero

Imagine yourself floating aimlessly inside a rainbow-coloured vortex. Now close your eyes, throw on Ladytron’s latest album, Velocifero (or throw on the album before you close your eyes) and keep floating for the next 55 minutes.

Experimenting with a variety of synth sounds and obscure effects for almost a decade, Ladytron continues to produce their signature electro pop style. Velocifero may not feel as fiery as their 2005 album, Witching Hour, yet the cold, sinister path it steers you on was preordained for Ladytron to take. Expect an unyielding, yet potent, synth and vocal experience.

I suggest not trying to read into their music too much. The band focuses more on the process of sound, effect and lyrical experimentation. They allow their music to go where it needs to go. After listening to the entire album, my lack of emotion or opinion did not discourage, but intrigued me. It made me wonder if and what I would feel if listened to the album again.
