Teen killed with pickaxe

CALGARY -- Blood-curdling screams filled the night air in Calgary late Saturday after a house party turned violent, leaving one teenager dead after he was struck in the face with a pickaxe.

Neighbors said about 100 teens had gathered at a Calgary home when the attack happened in a detached garage about 11:50 p.m.

"I was standing out back having a cigarette then I heard a kid screaming, 'They killed him,' then they all scattered," said Jeff, who lives next door to the house and did not want to give his last name.

"I just saw a body on the ground in the garage. I turned around quick, I didn't need to see more, but he was done."

Lisa Poole, who lives two doors from where the murder took place, rushed outside when she heard the screaming and commotion.

"I saw one boy laying there with a pick-axe stuck through the front of his head and some blood on the ground.
