i am an AVID animal lover you might call my family the crazy cat,dog.....animal family my children all have fur, they are my pride and joy i may not have given birth to them but just like an adoptive mother i too take pride in raising my "children" I have been volunteering with AARCS (Alberta animal rescue crew society) for almost a year now and it has been the most amazing experience of my life...after graduating from Columbia college with a diploma in criminal justice in 2011 i knew that i wanted to work in the justice field with animal bylaw, i thought that having a little more experience with animals under my belt so i began volunteering .... this was the best decision of my life i learned sooo much from my experiences and have gained so many new friends and met so many amazing animals that i can say truly have truly changed my life i applied to foster shortly after and got my first foster in October only days before our application to adopt my first dog from the city of Calgary impound each was a gift in my life and though my foster moved on and was adopted she visits regularly and she is never far from our thoughts, and now we have three fosters who will one day be adopted and so on if you have ever considered fostering i urge you to apply it is the most fun you will ever have with an animal that has never known love, teaching them that humans can be good and that they can in fact be trusted is a very rewarding experience.
About a rescuer
When you decide that you’ve had enough of your pet and you just can’t “deal" with them, do you have any clue what happens to them? Well, thankfully these things called angels were created to clean up your messes. These angels are here on Earth, covered in dog and cat hair, smelling like critter and fixing your problems. They have no life, no money and are possibly certifiably crazy. Their phone bills are huge and their vet bills are larger. They spend the day trying to save those animals you toss aside so carelessly. Every day they are given opportunities to help a life and are taxed with the pain of not being able to save them. The physical and emotional pain that these angels endure, day in and day out, is not something that you could handle. Who are these angels? Well, they are every day people who do extraordinary things. When you don’t care enough to care for your animal, these people are the one’s who step in. They whisper words of love in your former pet’s ear. The angels tell them all those things that you once told them and then the angels watch them die because you failed them.
