Prancer's Story
-- In Memory of Prancer, the shetland sheepdog that filled my life with smiles and love.
He was tooken from me at the youngish age of 8. He had a long rough ride, it started with ticks, and exceeded to cancer, a tumor around his heart. They said he had only months to live and nothing could help it. He was given his first session of kemotherapy, which miraculously nearly killed the tumor.
-- It looked like we would be in the clear soon, but Prancer started getting sick once again. Another trip to the vet revealed that Prancer gad Pancreatitis. There is no cure for it, they just treat the symptoms so that the patient is comfortable. It can be fatal. As the days went on, Prancer got more and more sick. After a month in and out of the vet clinic with the pancreatitis, it looked like he beat it, it was a miracle.
-- Three days at home, after being declared safe from the terrible disease, he got very sick once again, at 2 in the morning. He was wheezing and rubbing his head on all the furniture. We took him to the vet, at that hour. The vet was unsure what was going on. He kept Prancer there over night. On a Sunday morning in July, we recieved a terrible phone call. Prancer had gotten much worse. He had a seizure and was loosing his eye sight. The cancer had spread to his brain.
-- The vet had told us he thought Prancer had passed before we had arrived. He had a seizure but thankfully was still alive when we made it there. Although we had to put him down that day he will never be forgotten, although he will be greatly missed. He was THE perfect dog and I want others to know that. I got no sleep that night, I sat on my driveway and watched the sun set and the sun rise.
-- Prancer would come to me when I cried and would just sit with his head buried in my arms, he would come when I asked for a hug. He was unlike any other dog. He meant the world to me. I want other people to know his story so he can continue living, through spirit and memory. I Love You Prancer. Bye.
