BIO

Brothers Grim is a young duo from the 118 Ave of Beverly, Edmonton, Canada consisting of brothers Komrade (Big Kom) & Pat Grim (PG). While only performing for 3 years the brothers make up for it with 2 commercial releases, 4 music videos and over 50 performances.

Forming in 2008, Brothers Grim released their first project, ‘Don’t Judge A Book By Its Cover’. In November of 08 they filmed an HD music video for their single ‘City is Dying’. The track speaks on the social conditions in Edmonton and was received with rave reviews.

With the success of ‘City is Dying’ Brothers Grim found themselves performing at many events for social awareness including the teen HALO initiative on Alberta Avenue, the Heart of the City Music Festival, the Walk for Sudan and the Streets Speak event at City Hall with Mayor Stephen Mandel. This was complimented with regular rotation on the Plex Show, a national radio show on AVR, and the 5th Element Show on CFWE-FM.

In January of 09 the Brother Grim founded Grim Empire, a record label and promotions company, with other local emcees they had worked with. As a collective they have released 3 free online mixtapes. The Brothers Grim also founded Grim Wear, a t-shirt line inspired by Brothers Grim songs.

On April 20, 2009 Brothers Grim released Grim Reefer – a full album dealing with Cannabis Culture and Legalization. The album allowed the brothers the privilege of performing for thousands at local 420 rallies. To help promote the album, the video singles ‘Elevate ft Proveli Paragon’ and ‘Assassin of Youth’ were released along with the free online mixtapes ‘Elevate’ and ‘Livin Lavish’. The Grim Reefer album is endorsed by Canadian Cannabis Icon Marc ‘the Prince of Pot’ Emery.

The Brothers Grim capped off 2009 with Hip Hop on the Avenue II. Attended by over 150 people the show was a free, all ages performance for the Edmonton Food Bank. The event raised 550 pounds of food for the Edmonton Food Bank and was covered by Vue Weekly, The Edmonton Journal, Global News and CTV News.

2010 marked a year of changes for the Brothers Grim. They continued their prescience with ongoing performances including a spot on the first annual SOS (Sounds of Strathcona) Festival. It was also the first time solo projects from Komrade & Pat Grim were heard.

On September 28, 2010, Komrade along with Grim Empire member Stripes released the underground EP entitled ‘Abstract Flaws Fatal Realities’. The project was released with the HD video single ‘Russian Guitar’. To follow that up on November 13, 2010 Pat Grim released his solo mixtape debut with ‘Blunts Broads & Bottles’ which is soon to followed up with the video single ‘Psalms 23:4.’ These new solo projects allowed each brother to highlight their individual styles and sounds.

Never one to slow down Brothers Grim continue to perform with notable shows including Hip Hop in the Park (08, 09, 10), Hip Hop on the Avenue and opening slots for Canada’s own Scale Breakers, Snak the Ripper & Belly. The Brothers Grim are in the studio working on their 3rd release, currently untitled, which should be expected by the summer of 2011.
