I want a boy who would hold my hand in line at the mall & make all the girls jealous.

I promised myself that when it was over, I'd laugh at the memories.
But here I am, without a smile on my face. I promised myself that I would call you,
just to see if you were okay. But here I am, and I can't even dial your number.

But here I am, shirt almost soaked. I promised myself I would let you go gracefully.
But here I am, hating myself for letting you leave. I promised myself that when it

& then he hits you with that one last promise and you want it to be the truth so bad
you're looking into his eyes and you're crying saying "he's not lying"
but you know he is

You might not be his first, his last, or his only.
he's cared about someone else before & possibly will again,
but if he cares for you now, what else matters?
he's not perfect & you aren't either.
& the two of you will never be perfect.
but if he can make you laugh at least once,
hold onto him & give him the most you can.
he's probably not going to quote poetry,
& he probably won't be thinking about you every second of the day,
but he will give you a part of him that he knows you can break,
so don't hurt him. don't change him & don't expect more than he can give.
don't overanalyze. smile when he makes you happy, yell when he makes you mad,
and miss him when he's not there. & who knows?
