Im one single face lost in a crowd,
No ever pays attention so why should they now.
Im content to blend in, to disappear,
While you draw attention whenever you’r near.
Can’t blame people for lookin, coz they like what they see,
Gotta admit you had a similar effect on me.
All I cud do was stare and work up my nerve.
After everything that had happened, I knew it was you I deserved.
I could sense it as soon as we met,
But if you guessed I was a coward, boy you’d win that bet.
Cause I just stood there unable to say a single thing,
Despite knowing the subsequent joy, talking to you would bring.
But I didn’t know you and didn’t know what to say,
I may be terribly self-conscious but I was overachieving that day.
I was mentally drained and very sleep deprived,
And I also a zit on my face of appreciable size.
So needless to say I began to fumble,
Your features would make most brave men tremble.
So imagine the effect they had on me,
It took all my courage not to bolt immediately.
Your every aspect was a facsimile of a dream of mine,
I just wish that day, I had grown a spine.
As the crowd buzzed around I told myself,
that I control my destiny and no one else.
Its me who determines what course life takes,
so just go talk to her for heaven’s sake.
But as it turned out that was easier in theory than in practice,
I wanna be with you, but the simple fact is:
You are way outta my league,
and its not in my nature to lie or deceive.
You need a guy with a truck load of cash,
Someone with little substance but tons of flash.
Some one who can wine and dine you and satisfy your every whim,
I wont kid myself by pretending, I could be him.
Nope I’m just a guy standing across from you in a crowd,
Hoping to God that you would say something out loud.
Something like hey there, or hi what’s your name,
But you stayed silent and that’s a real shame.
All we had was eye contact and that was so fleeting,
Wish there was some way to prolong our meeting.
But destiny decided to continue my plight
As your heavenly gaze disappeared from my sight.
Another great opportunity thus came and went,
But with this failure I grew far more adamant
Next time I’ll stand my ground, speak my mind and I won’t forfeit
But given my track record I some how doubt it.
