Everybody seems so dependant on things such as
gasoline, kerosene, propane and matches
lighting their lives with scrawny wicks that
glow in the dark just so you dont lose them when you're
talking about shit again, meaning to go to work, but didn't
pick up the lettuce for the
dinner for the kids for their soccer practice at the
field where you picked your first daisy for your second love on your third date
outside the retirement home where mom lays to rest her cancerous worries with a couple of
blue pills that say "happy birthday" when her children wont even call her to say "good morning" and even though we give ourselves solid reasoning to let that wick go
cold for a while, we still cant find the time or the will to justify spending a few of our hard earned pennies of time on us
on our family and our friends without whom we know
that wick would never be lit in the first place
the fuel, be it
gasolene, kerosene, propane or even matches
would have been rendered useless because
we wouldnt have been able to open the door and reach in.
