The day was long awaited; we had all seen it coming. Yet, it hung in your gut like the lowest feeling. Nothing was ordinary; the sun was shining; yet every one was so uneasy. No one complained about the traffic, no fights took place on the sidelines of the streets.

I put my head down and walk closer to her building, if life was to end, why not have it end with her? I dial her code and ring her home. “Hello?” She asks softly. I smile,

“`Em, would you come downstairs. I wanna take you some place..” I say with no emotion. I hear her sigh.

“I’ll be down in a sec..” I smile and lean up against the building, my eyes looking up at the sky, small traces of light sparkle bright against the blue sky, like an airplane traveling out side the atmosphere. “Don’t tell her.” The small voice screams in my head. I close my eyes and raise my collar up, blocking the small breeze from hitting my face.

I turn my attention to the door, a shorter girl steps out. Her clothes are classy yet casual, her blonde hair tied from her bands with a bow. I smile and take her hand. “Where are we going?” She asks as I start to run her through the city.

“To a place I’ve always wanted to show you.” Every so often I’d look to the sky blackening with sudden clouds. I sigh and let the heaviness of death flow to the back of my head.

“Are we almost there? It’s hard to run in these love.” She says with an honest smile. I look at my watch. 10 to 12. I smile and pick up the girl on my back, earning a surprised squeal. I smile and hold back my tears, how much I’d miss her. We arrive at the tall building somewhat later.

I rush inside and start to press the elevator door rapidly. “C’mon, c’mon..” I say in frustration. She rests her head on my face and pouts.

“What are we doing?” I smile and shake my head,

“I promised you the world, now I’m giving you the closet thing to it.” The elevator doors swing open and I rush in, pressing the close door button just as fast. I didn’t need interruptions.

I let the girl down to the floor. I grab her hands and look her in the eyes. “I’m sorry for not giving you every thing you imagined, and I’m sorry for not being there all the time. But most of all I’m sorry for not saying what’s you’ve always wanted to hear.

“J-“ I press my finger to her mouth.

“I love you.” I say pressing my lips softly into hers. She wraps her arms around my shoulders and holds me tight, her body shakes as tears fall from her face.

“I don’t want to die, I need want to stay with you forever. Please, please don’t let us die..” I hold her face in my hands and kiss her on the forehead.

“Do you not get it?” She shakes her head.

“How long have I known you?” I ask with a smile. She looks around the elevator and twists her lips.

“Four years.” I hold her face a littler tighter.

“What’s the date?”

“December 21st, 2012” she says softly.

“21 times 4?” She sighs.

“What has this got to do with anything!?” She says stomping her foot hard, the elevator shakes slightly.

“Just answer it love.” She sighs,

“84?” I grin now.

“21 times 12?” She rolls her eyes and counts on her hands.

“252..” I wrap my arms around her.

“Now I add 84.” I whisper. Her small body freezes in my arms.

“336..” I eyes my eyes as the elevator door opens, my eyes set on the sky and my watch. The sky was reddened and foggy. The black clouds were thick and dark.

“Promise me you’ll never regret anything okay?” I say softly. She nods, I let go of her body and let her face the out side world.

“I couldn’t give you the world, so I gave you the skies of Los Angeles.” I say as she steps out. I follow slowly beside her, tears seep from my eyes. A large chunk of rock falls from the sky, an ear shattering crash follows suit. The girl retreats to my arms. I stroke her back and sooth her as more start to fall.

First came the meteor’s lacing the skies like a spring rain. Next came the chorus of screams, louder and more beautiful then the heavenly choir. I slowly inch our way to the buildings edge, my sights peering down to the city of terror below.

I look at my watch, 12:20. I close my eyes and point us to the north. When I open them the sky opens with a blue light, it’s glows sent over the city casting it silver. It was to precious for eyes to behold and I was soon blinded. I knew what it was, a comet larger then all the planets in the universe. It brought sudden cold and shook the earth as it entered the atmosphere. I hold the girl tightly in my arms, not letting her turn to see her inevitable doom.
