Now you can believe the title if you want, I don't care if you think music needs saving or not; but personally I think popular music does. With few of our current saviours making a scratch in album sales, and comercial music getting more and more diluted, what hope is there for creative musicians to branch out? The answer is Daniel Victor. This is the mastermind behind a new project called Never Ending White Lights (new although it has been in production for over a year and a half). He has in the past been a producer on a number of albums, and has written several songs for Switchfoot. It combines his music, which is extremely well written, with many melodic overtones and continuing themes throughout the album. Not only that but the whole idea of the project comes from collabaration, most of the music has other people singing on it. Who are these other people you may ask, why are they on his album? The answer is that he writes music, but allows people to contribute and enjoys contributing. Veiwing music as a communal body, the unknown Daniel contacted most of the artists by phone asking them to collaborate, suprisingly most did. The contributers range from Raine Maida of Our Lady Peace, to Dallas Green of Alexisonfire, and Jason Martin of Starflyer 59. All contributing artists are people Daniel feels have contributed something important to modern music, even if the labels and public have overlooked them. If you are looking for some good music that is, because of word of mouth, selling out of music stores, and has put the video The Grace into highrotation on Much Music, check out Neverending White Lights Act1: Goodbye, Friends of the Heavenly Bodies.
While your at it you can check some of these other bands that have hit the water but failed to make huge waves which I think are quite talented.
