Goals and shit!
A couple years ago, I was overweight, unhappy, and decided to make a change.

I set some goals.... now this may seem silly, stupid, like a waste of time, weird, whatever...but it was a goal I had in mind.....

I wanted to be like Hugh Jackman and leg press 1000lbs.

Today, I reached my goal.

I warmed up at 450lbs for two sets of eight reps.
I got rolling at 630lbs for two sets of 8 reps.
I started to feel the hurt at 810lbs, one set of 6 reps. This is usually my top weight for strength training.
I put it up to my past maximum at 900lbs, banged out a single set of 6 reps.
TEsted the waters at 950lbs for a single set of 4 reps.

Then I went for broke and got a couple bigger guys to spot, threw on the last 50lbs, and leg pressed 1000lbs for one set of three reps.

My legs are teh hurtz....but it's a neat feeling to know I've accomplished somthign I set out to do for myself.

Just thought I'd share. Oh, and Ryan Kennedy kicks my ass.... love you man, you keep me focused! Sorry for not coming to Tubby Dog tonight, I ate and had to poop really really bad.....

Aside from teh poop, I just wanted to let some of you know about this because as trivial as it seems, sometimes just setting your goals, and focusing on what you want and how you're going to get it is the most important part of growing. And yeah, my legs hurrrrt!

good job man!

get into squats, it's alot better of a workout, but don't go throwing 1000 pounds on it though haha

few years ago when i played hockey i did leg press, made it to 1100 and then my trainer told me to start squats, and i liked it much more. works your core and legs real good.

Yeah dude, I squat about 275lbs, and it's a great interval for strength training. I use it along with dead lifts. This was a straight power lift type thing. Strangely to train up for it, I did a lot of core work instead of legs. And thanks man, 1100lbs will be the new goal now.
