Thoughts on Nvidia 3870X2 Release
I think it hit the demographic it aimed at. you cant aim an X2 at everyone, its the enthusiasts, the Benchmarkers. Most people dont want SLI or crossfire. the cost:performance isnt there. The X2, hit a nice spot on that Ratio. They made it available to those who couldnt afford, or didnt want, two cards, yet still wanted another bit of FPS. I think it did great for what it is. Especially after hearing the problems of the 7950X2, the card, the release, and the everyday usage went smoothly, and continues to do so.

And as SKYMTL said, Nvidia is counter acting... what does that say. it speaks loads. Clearly, like Dual/Quad/Hexa/Octo Cores... i think that one day, GPU's will head the same way. be it dual chips, or otherwise.

A friend mentioned the other day, after looking at G92 and the 9X series, he thinks they are just at the end of devolpment for this technology. I dont agree, but i keep my mind open and am ok with being incorrect.

It would seem both companies are hiding something. something big. and i dont think they are in cahoots at all. But with ATI's lackluster performance, and Nvidias Rehash of older technology on a "Next Gen" series, i think both of got something up thier sleeves. Intel has got Nehalem(sp?)... we know this. its no secret. Nvidia is owning the boards, and the gamers right now. What does AMD have? AMD and ATI are in cahoots obviously, and with the fricken spider platform (may i add, LOL) what are they working on.

I feel that we are in the eye of a storm. ATI and Nvidia have been duking it out. Nvidia is up. And as much as i AM an Nvidia fanboy, ATI isnt horrible. they arent stupid. They have a left jab and a right hook coming. I personally cant wait to see what it is.

but its all speculation and in the end, doesnt really matter
