I stand alone,
I think,
"I'm just one person, I can't make a difference".
Why buy organic food?
Why recycle?
Why try to fight succumbing to capitalism,
Or the group of people my friend is in?
Why try to open people's eyes to homosexuality,
Or third world countries?
But then I stand in this group.
This epicentre of emotion,
This gathering of grace,
A meeting of maliciousness
And I think,
"I'm more than a person.
I'm hundreds of people connected through one thought."
Change; revolution.
So I stand in this group.
Blood pumping, voice chanting,
Mind racing, chest beating.
I've found where I make a difference.
Inside this slew of selflessness
Is where I hold this sign,
And learn the most important lesson of my life:
Voices for Peace Refuse to be Quiet.
