ABOUT ME

Check out my music:

http://www.myspace.com/fjaertorslovaark

I'm an electrical engineering student at the University of Victoria, and I have been fortunate enough to have the opportunity combine this education with Sound Production and Recording Engineering studies in conjunction with the school of music.

This brings us to the love of music. I'm a guitarist primarily (metal and classical). I write EVIL epic melodic viking metal about terrible and unpleasent things, where the doer of these inhumane deeds is the protagonist.

My music draws influence from:

-Norwegian Metal/other Scandinavian Metal
-Russian Power Metal
-Japanese Metal
-Classical Music
-Folk Music (Scandinavian, Russian, Scottish Gaelic, Cape Breton fiddle, )
-Cold Weather, Mountains, Physics, the Universe
-Dragons, Wizards
-My majestic expeditions to Scandinavia and Scotland

I also make music with some Russians; we have been jamming together for many years. I have a recording studio which moves between Victoria and Calgary, and I also record with UVic in their concert hall facilities.

The art of drinking ale is important; I love a good brew with the droogs in my local tavern or while contained within the "Atlantic Trap and Gill" pub. Also, I'm all about the sport that the rest of the world calls football, having played it passionately as a young lad (but I never was particularily tallented at the game compared to many).

The cold and the wilderness and the outdoors entertain me in the following ways:

-Whitewater canoeing (I was an instructor for several years when I was younger)
-Rock climbing (although not much recently due to school)
-Backcountry Ski Mountaineering (Telemark) and Snowboarding
-Exploring, Backpacking, Mountainbiking, ext
-Archery

Other hobbies of mine include the less modest side of sciences (pneumatic cannons, synthesis of high secondary explosives), cinemetography, technical mechanical, architectural, and electrical drafting drafting and design (manual and autocad), and building contraptions/general wood and metal working (oh yes, and making fucking swords).

I wrote this song a while back, and it has since been recorded (however I'm not posting a link to the recording because although it's quite glorious the vocals are rather unpleasant and must be re-done). I know that it's difficult for someone to tell how it's suppose to flow just by reading it; I have therefore thrown in dashes in certain areas to accentuate a pause (grammatically it's incorrect, but it is part of an attempt to have the song read properly). These attempts at structuring it are very far from perfect, I know; but if you can bear with the internet jargon filling up nexopia I'm sure you can handle this.

Any true nerd should be able to tell what this song is singing about: It's an empathetic look through the eyes of a certain antagonist from one of literature's most famous epics.

Dwimmerlaik's Demise

It calls me to the West, as it drags them ever East
To intercept the bearer – I must
Vigilant – my smell; graceful terror swoops – my beast and shrieks
My brothers,
