The 30th season of Columbia Valley Rockies Junior hockey is already underway. Last Friday night marked the first preseason win for the club and it was also the first game in which Coach Darren Naylor dressed returning players for the Rockies. Veterans Reid Mitchell and Brent McQueen saw their first action with the former notching a pair of goals. The Rockies topped the hometown Kimberley Dynamiters by a score of five to three. Newcomer Brett Bjorkman was the player of the game, tallying an impressive four assists including a cross-crease pass to set up the game winning goal scored by Garrett Griffith.
Other standouts include goalie Ty Gullickson who held the Dynamiters scoreless in his half of the game. Jivani Shahnz continues to play well above his five foot-six frame and showed no mercy snapping a shot into the top corner after an horrendous Kimberley giveaway. Tyler Spaan, or “Alaska” as he’s been dubbed by his teammates, dominated at the faceoff dot: winning the great majority of his draws. And defenseman Terry Helgason left the ice in the first period with an upper body injury. The game was a gentlemanly affair despite twenty four minors penalties dolled out by referee Matt Barker.
It was a welcome change from the Rockies previous match in Golden on Saturday August 30th. The third frame began with a full-scale brawl including a shocking cheap shot on Rockies big winger David Sabey, leaving him prone on the ice. Golden won the game eight to three, but the Rockies young line-up showed poise and maturity in returning the circus-like start to something resembling a hockey game.
Sabey looks impressive so far scoring in all 3 preseason games. Mattias Schmitt has been all over the score sheet especially in the first two games against Golden. Veteran Chase Steele received some good news regarding his broken Tibia: he’s recovering faster than expected and may return a month earlier than originally predicted. Also the Rockies have traded Bryar Zinn and Kyle Kraatz to Grand Forks for future considerations.

so im coming home everyone. i got traded to grand forks, but i dont wanna go there. SOOOOO.
im just gonna come home, concentrate on school, and just play midget AAA. train all year and try out
for junior A next year

so i havnt had a chance to tel everyone what the vets made us rookies do.
so its a tradition for every junior team that the vets torture the rookies some
how. well on my team, we all had to go to fairmont hot springs. and when we
got their, there was about 200 hundred people there swimming. usually the
team has a diving competition. but the diving boards were closed, so here
they made us do a series of events. the first event, had to get into groups of 5.
it was a race to the end of the pool, once you got to the end, had to jump up
and do a dance, then swim back to your team and tag the next guy on your
team. oh while this is being done, were wearing nothing but diapers. so it
was REALLY embarassing, everyones dances were lame, until i got up there,
and i did the worm, everyone that was watching all started cheering and
laughing it was priceless. we finished 3rd in that event so we had to do the
next 1. next 1 we had to pick any song, do a dance for it for 30 seconds, and
then after the dance had to do synchronized diving(dancing in water). so the
song my group picked was i kissed a girl. we hold each others hips, jump
forward 3 times, then jump backwards 3 times, then turn around with our
asses facing the crowd, and smakced each others asses in a line, then
jumped into the pool to do our synchronized diving. lets just say we got 1st
place for synchronized dancing. then the other group got the same score from
the crowd, so we had to do sudden death, and this we had to do a walk off.
(what models do on stage). instead of walking normally we had to make it
unique qith some type of dance, first up was vernon, he did the night at the
rozbury dance, then mattias, he did a cowboy dance, then i was up next. i walk
up casually like a model, and then just start doing the soulja boy dance. the
crowd was going nuts it was halarious. then gus did the dance stiffler does in
american pie, and then lance was last, he was prancing around like a fairy
moving his hands around his face like a picture frame. and our tema ended up
winning the rookie event, was so funny. i love it here

oh and on the night of our home opener on september 12th, all the guys in
school have to wear their jocks, their jersey, and their helmet to school. and
then have to stand up in front of the whole school and sing im a little tea pot.
gonna be fuckin halarious

so last night we had our 2nd exhibition game vs golden
just a fuckin gongshow. they have there whole team made, we had all rookies.
we didnt play 1 vet, not 1!. we still lost, but their was a line brawl, hergason
on our team just speed bagged 1 of their vets wearing a visor. the 2 toughest
guys in the league are on golden, zach babba and cody sutherland. they were
in the line brawl and they got speed bagged too. then 1 of our guys goes to get
his gear and shit, babba takes 4 strides, comes up behind our guy and sucker
punchd him in the side of the head, babba is fuckin deadwhen we play against
them next time with all our vets, hes my age, and he lead the league last year
in penalty minutes with 366. he had 37 fights as a 16 year old, yea hes only 17
but hes 6'0, 200 pounds. fuck him, and fuck cody sutherland, theyre dead.

so these are my final goodbyes to everyone, and everything. im gonna miss
everyone, im gonna miss the mean streets of whalley, im gonna miss kwantlen park,
im gonna miss my family, im gonna mis the hockey shop, and im gonna miss
surrey minor hockey.
i know im not gone forever, but im gone for my grade 12 year. the year im
supposed to never forget, the year where memories are made that last forever.
but i dont look at it that way, because there will be many memories to be made

k this happened like 10 minutes ago. im sitting at my computer, and i here
a car alarm going off, it sounded exactly like our van alarm, we already had our
van almost broken into at my old house, so im like wtf my van trying to be
broken into? so i run into the living room, and tried looking through the curtains
cause i didnt want the "robbers" to see me, but i couldnt get a good view. so i
run up to my room, turn my light off, and open my blinds just enough so i can
look through them, i look at my van, looks perfectly fine, no lights gonig off. so
im like wtf is going on, then i here tires screeching, and like 5 seconds later a
big BANG. sounded likecars smashing, so i run into my parents room, wake
my mom and dad up, tell them what i just heard, i run outside, and i see
nothing. then i look at my neighbours house, and their garage door is open
with the lights on, and them talking. they're 2 brothers, so i go over there,
and there van thats in the car port is smashed in the back, i look up and their
truck is smashed in the front, i asked what happened and apparently 1 of the
brothers drove home drunk, smashed up both of their vehicles.

campbell, his younger brother, wyatt and jesse are all out on lunch. they're
driving right by phat fixx, and right at the cross walk, some guy and this sketchy
girl are like arguing, the guy shoves her pretty hard, so she starts walking
across the crosswalk, and right at th end of the crosswalk, the guy SPRINTS
as fast as he could across the crosswalk, AND DROP KICKS HER IN THE
BACK. HAHAHAHAHAA she gets mad whip lash and her purse just goes
fuckin yard sale, shes like laying on the ground, some big latino in a beater
walks up to her, says some shit to her and then walks off, the girl obvs
borrowed some rock and didnt pay the guy back or something

too. we had jas by the front tills, brandon at the front doors, and jesse by the
skate fit area, the guy walks out and everyone was like HOOOOOOOO is that
guy ever lucky that he got you brad and not us, we would of shit pumped him.
