We've been talking to lots of users about the homepage and we've got tons of great feedback. We've made a few tweaks and added some new features which you can see in the sketch above.

Below the Spotlight and the stuff you're used to, we've added blocks that show the latest public Shouts (coming soon), blogs posts, albums and profile pictures. This makes it easier to find and share content that you like on the site, as well as get more people to see your own stuff if you want them to (showing your stuff on the homepage will be optional).

If you want to check out the new sidebar that will be released soon, you can see it on the beta site right now. Remember that it is a beta site, so not everything will be working properly as it is being tested and worked on.

What about instead of that, a featured blog entry.. same thing as articles, but your not having two apps doing the same job. Like right under USER BLOGS have a section for Featured blog, and then the blog entry under that have the live feed user blogs What do you think?

	06:55pm \| Apr 23, '09 Kevin That could work, although it is nice to feature the articles as a lot of users put a lot of work into them. We are still trying to think about how we should pull blog entries onto the homepage. Realtime? Most commented? Manually select them? Any thoughts?

	07:01pm \| Apr 23, '09 KSASCC Definitely not real-time, its a "prone-to-abuse" feature, cause people will create nonsense blog entries just to get on the front-page. Most commented will prevent this, however.. Manual selection will also be good, cause not all of the "Best" blogs have the most comments, so it would be nice to see those as well.

	12:30am \| Apr 24, '09 overbose Most commented is still easy to abuse. Just comment on your own posts a lot. Or spam all your friends to do so. Should be at least moderated as it is now (for articles).

	03:51pm \| Apr 26, '09 Kevin I agree, there needs to be something, like moderation, to prevent abuse. At the same time, with the amount of activity on the site, posts would not be on the homepage long and chances are you would never even see yours.

Just the look of things. There's not really any reason to fix the list of updated profiles, etc. to something that we aren't used to for no reason.
I'm all for the content, just the placing of things.
Or.. how about an option to rearrange the homepage as we see fit? (Example, being able to move Articles to the top if a user appreciates them more than let's say Profile Pictures)

Is there any chance you guys will consider adding on a collapse option to *some of* the sections (ie. updated profile pictures, user albums, shouts, etc.) because I have to be honest, I view the homepage a lot and to see a bunch of users being "whored out" with pictures and constant updated here, there and everywhere really doesn't sound all that flattering.

I have to agree with Khiash on his comment to keep things on the left side. I'm not sure if the staff is planning on having the sidebar show up when visiting the home page but if it does show having left-hand, big center and side bar sounds and looks (in my opinion) a lot more reasonable. I would also have to agree on having the sections arrange-able (articles, updates, etc. of course not including the 'important things' like spotlight, site updates, etc.) I would much rather view articles on the big column apposed to a little side chunk.

Otherwise I really like the new look, it's about time the homepage had an update.

	04:40pm \| Apr 23, '09 cl14 Admins will have the ability to delete posts from the homepage, which will help. Also we are looking at a couple of other filtering mechanisms to help prevent this from happening. I'm not entirely sure what you mean about the length?
