A man killed as he tried to flag down a ride after his car crashed on the Queen Elizabeth II highway last Friday has been identified as Matthew Saunders, 19, of Edmonton.
Witnesses told Mounties a Honda Accord was northbound near Leduc around 3:30 a.m. when the driver tried to pass another car, hit it from behind, spun out and crashed into a ditch.
Mounties said Saunders got out of the car and was trying to wave down a ride when he was hit by a tractor-trailer.
