Rachelle Pecson has little to say to those responsible for killing her son.

Instead, she is focusing on the memories of him, and the friends that loved the affable teen, knowing he will live on through them.

Ziggy Pecson, 19, died early Sunday morning after he was stabbed outside the Plush Lounge at the corner of 9th Avenue and 1st Street S.E

Friends who have poured into the Pecson home since news broke of the popular teen's death have shared their own stories with the family, including one who told Rachelle that Pecson had saved his life.
"I've never seen that much tears in one day. People here who love Ziggy outnumber those there that night that hated him."

"People are still going to be loving him. You can't suppress him," said his aunt, Regina Holdenried.

Last March, Ziggy bought his first pair of turntables and was making a name for himself on the scene as DJ Ziggy P after winning an open DJ night at The Mynt. He was expected to showcase his talents and passion for funk and house music next weekend at the opening night of the D'Lux Lounge at the Whiskey.

Now, it will be a memorial for the 19-year-old, with memories about the teen's helpful nature.

When a pot on a stove at a party caught fire one night, Pecson was compelled to carry the pot outside, burning his hand in the process.

When asked why he would put himself in danger that way, he responded that a baby lived next door and he feared the house would go up in flames, putting the child at risk.

"He's not a saint, but he has urges to do the right thing," Rachelle said.

He always shared the details of his day with his mom.

He always like to dress up and wore a jacket, whether he was inside or out.

The eldest of five boys, Pecson doted on his younger brothers, purchasing video game consoles for them and expensive hockey equipment for one brother, who Pecson hoped would make the NHL.

"He buys the things I can't for my kids," Rachelle said.

She said he was a role model to them and his cousins -- nine boys in all.

"They all want to copy him," Rachelle said.

He was remembered as a hyper teen, full of energy and life. He will be remembered also for a "mushroom" haircut he sported in Grades 5 and 6 that friends then copied. Memories of the style prompted some laughter from the group gathered in the living room at Pecson's home.

One of the dead man's friends, who did not want to be identified, recalled on Monday his final moments with Pecson.

They had gone to the Plush Lounge at the corner of 9th Avenue and 1st Street S.E. for a few drinks.

The friend said a man started a fight with them. Pecson and his friend did not want to get involved and tried to extricate themselves from the situation as the club was closing.

"He (Pecson) said, 'Do you have my back?' I said I did," his friend said, visibly upset.

But the pair were separated in the crowd and the friend could not find Pecson in the lounge. He went outside to find Pecson lying on the ground, stabbed.

"He looked right at me and I just couldn't help him," his friend said. "I promised I'd be right there for him."

Staff Sgt. Kevin Forsen said there were a number of people in the area when the incident happened, and police are encouraging them to come forward with any information.

"Even the smallest piece may be something of significance to us," he said.

Meanwhile, Rachelle has told her son's friends to come visit once in a while.

"I see Ziggy in each one of them."

Natalie Grant - Held Lyrics

Two months is too little.
They let him go.
They had no sudden healing.
To think that providence would
Take a child from his mother while she prays
Is appalling.

Who told us we'd be rescued?
What has changed and why should we be saved from nightmares?
We're asking why this happens
To us who have died to live?
It's unfair.

Chorus:
This is what it means to be held.
How it feels when the sacred is torn from your life
And you survive.
This is what it is to be loved.
And to know that the promise was
When everything fell we'd be held.

This hand is bitterness.
We want to taste it, let the hatred know our sorrow.
The wise hands opens slowly to lilies of the valley and tomorrow.

(Chorus)
This is what it means to be held.
How it feels when the sacred is torn from your life
And you survive.
This is what it is to be loved.
And to know that the promise was
When everything fell we'd be held.

Bridge:
If hope is born of suffering.
If this is only the beginning.
Can we not wait for one hour watching for our Savior?

(Chorus)
This is what it means to be held.
How it feels when the sacred is torn from your life
And you survive.
This is what it is to be loved.
And to know that the promise was
When everything fell we'd be held.
