ABOUT ME

I"m a late bloomer .... just graduated from university in 2002. Before I went back to school, I Had spent 24 years in asia ... mostly Japan, but with a couple of years in India and many months in places like Korea, Hong Kong, etc. I do computer work and desktop publishing. I also do photography ... kind of semi-pro (see my "gallery" here). I am vegitarian and am interested in yoga and self-realization. [/color][/i] [/size]

Nikon F with "Fisheye" lens; Nikon SP (rangefinder) with 50mm f1.1 lens; Leica M4 (rangefinder) with 21mm Super Angulon; Nikon Coolpix 5000 (plain); and the same Nikon Coolpix 5000 with 19mm wide-angle adaper and battery grip.

I sold the Nikon F with the fisheye to a friend before I left for Japan in 1969; I sold the SP with f1.1 lens to an Italian collector when I came back to Japan from India in 1974; the M4 was stolen from my rucksack when I was travelling by bus in Thailand in 1974.) bicycle incident ...

On last Wed (June 27, 2007) I was biking downtown Edmonton on my mountain bike around 8:30pm. I was headed to a health club (gym) that I joined a few weeks ago ... figuring I had to start to get more active or I'd start to feel old ... which I don't yet. Anyway I try to bike there rather than drive ... simplifies parking and provides some warm-up exercise.

I was getting close to my destination and was actually riding on the sidewalk at this point ... when another cyclist came out from between 2 bldg.'s on my left ... and surprised me . I slammed on my brakes (too hard) without thinking ... avoided the cyclist ... but suddenly my back wheel came up in the air and I found myself going over the handlebars ... heading head-first for the sidewalk !!

I remember the shock of my helmet hitting the concrete . I wound up with the bike on top of me . The other cyclist got that off me and helped me to my feet. He asked how I
