Running and running as fast as I can,
when will I stop?
Nobody knows.
My feet hit the pavement
and it makes my blood race,
Adrenaline inside of me is burning,
I have to break free.
I’ve just turned the corner
There’s no looking back.
My head starts to pound
to the beating of my heart.
I keep running.
I feel my cheeks flush,
and my body become hot.
I rip each layer of my clothing off,
and fling them into my past.
The cool wind stings,
like a thousand needles on my bare skin.
I keep running.
Everyone in the street has become a huge blur
Colours, like the wind, that rush past me.
I keep running.
I am approaching the water ahead,
I stop once I reach the grass.
My legs become weak,
my breathing comes in short gasps,
as my head and heart beat simultaneously.
I turn back, and look at the now empty street.
My clothes are skattered among it.
I lay myself down on the grass
and close my eyes.
I feel my heart pounding out of my chest,
as I let the grass enrobe itself over my naked body.
It tingles.
I let the earth soak me in.
At last, I am one with Mother Nature.
Just as it was meant to be.
