Hey so I'm looking for as much support from people at this moment for a group of my friends living in a house in East Vancouver dealing with our supposed "Green City" of Vancouver.
Currently, the house rightfully named "The Farmhouse" is a house on 56th and Main that has an abundance of edible plants growing around their entire house. The household lives by a community sustainability mindset and are very green conscious. As one of them told me their "farm" has fed the entire household for months.
If anything these people should be mentors - people in our community we should try to be more like. Unfortunately the city of Vancouver thinks otherwise. . .
Due to a total of 3 complaints by 2 neighbors the city is taking action against the household by forcibly removing a portion of their garden on Wednesday. The Farmhouse started a petition about a week ago and have gained A LOT of support from their neighbors that don't mind it and/or are glad that they have it.
The landlord of their house doesn't find it problematic as well but doesn't want to deal with the $2000 fine he'll have to deal with if it isn't removed.
The by-law they're infringing upon is the
UNTIDY PREMISES BY-LAW NO. 4548
