My name is Daniel, and Im going into second year at Simon Fraser University. I moved to New Westminster, BC in 1993 from Edmonton. I have an older brother and sister both of them are finished high school. I am also a private, infantry soldier with: A Company, The Seaforth Highlanders of Canada, Canadian Forces Reserve.
I LOVE the outdoors and that means it does not matter what the weather is like, I will do what i planned on doing, rain or shine, 'till hell feezes over I will camp, hike, bike, canoe, etc.

It means so much and I will never forget it (actually, I have a pretty bad memory, but I have remembered everything so far and I will try my best to keep remembering). Im an outdoors person so ill basically do anything that relates to outside like: hiking, camping, backpacking, skiing.
I also enjoy speed skating, playing hockey, hanging with friends and listening to music.

Not many people would understand why I feel the way I do about Canada. It just doesn't suddenly come to you that you realize you live in one of the greatest countries in the world, though I wish it did for a few. You have to see the country, learn to love its traditions, various cultures, and appreciate what this country has to offer that no other countries can even match. Over the years I know Canada has done its up's and down's but most of the time things have turned out for the better, and to be better we have to have an open mind to change and adapt accordingly. My years of travel to other countries and knowledge of other lands has made me realize what a great nation we live in.
From free medical care, to education support for nearly every family in the country, we have it all here. We not only lead the world in cancer research, but we also lead the world when it comes to bringing peace and stability to a region in need of it. From WW1 up until today, Canadians have always answered the call-to-arms in the name of peace, and will continue to do so in the future. As it is said "to keep the peace, you must be prepared to fight the war."
Canadian values far exceed that of any country I have visited to date. Our open mind allows us to explore what other people will never get to see and experience new adventures like none other. I love this country and I would die for it, that is why I joined the Forces. Defending our values, our freedoms and our views, and being able to help people around the world is always what I have wanted to do and I wouldn't have it any other way.

In honour of a fallen soldier, My brother, This is my remembrance...
...I remember the last time I saw you. In that nice flag-drapped coffin, being carried into the hall by memebers of your own regiment. I remember the sounds, a mother without a son, a fiancee without a future husband, all weeping quietly at the front; your best friend performing your eulogy. I remember the tear, that streamed down my own face as I listened to the last words about you. I'll never forget the picture of you, on top of the coffin, with your medals, the honours you earned in the height of battle.
...I won't forget the man, that gave up his life for the freedom of others; I won't forget the man that turned words into action; and I definately won't forget the man that brought hope to a distant land. The courage you showed is an inspiration to me and everyone else across Canada. You were one of the few that dared to take on those who challenged freedom and democracy.
...Your work will not be in vein, your work will not be forgotten, and your courage will never be matched. I am honoured to be able to have called you my friend, my brother-at-arms. To your family, we all promise to be by their side if they need it. We will not abandon them because you never abandoned anyone.
Stand down soldier, you've served your time in hell. Rest-in-Peace
