GLOBALIZATION
RESPONSE: BY AMBER ANDERSON

While reading I was increasingly surprised at how people could become whoever they wanted to be by creating their own "super power" per say. They created a side of them that only the internet knew, but that part of themselves could persuade a nation. They used things we take for granted and make a part of a new world, a better tomorrow, by something so simple. It really opens eyes on how we could influence the world of tomorrow.
1998 was a changing year for mostly everyone, and everything. It increased production of some things, while costing others millions. Osama BinLadden posed war, he spoke one word and BANG missiles were sent and war was created. I couldn't believe the amounts spent on entrapping one person. The threat he posed was not nearly worth the amount they spent on deadly weapons. I think that is just wrong, the money they spent on killing one guy (which didn't even work by the way) could have fed millions who can't afford to feed themselves. Its just disgusting.
After reading about the cold war system and globalization, it made me think about how much globalization influenced my life, and how much the cold war system influenced the geneeration then, and how the change from cold war to globalization influenced them, and us.
-Where we live, where we can't live, where some people are restricted to live, and where groups of people can live for free.
-How marketing effects everything. Children to buy special products on tv. Personal image, whats right and whats in. The food intake of all the world, the places we are influenced to go, and how that hurts us.
Whats really disgusting is how we buy into things like dr. phil and oprah, believeing that they can truly help our problems, when in reality they thrive off marketing, and marketing decides wether to make, or break them.
When our world has come to fake identities, and unrealistic answers, its truly sad that 90% of mankind would rather take the easy route, then actually trying to do what is right. And whats even worse, is that those who run the influences, those who own it all and know it all, still take the illegal, cheaper route, instead of whats right. Thats what makes mankind the generation of yesturday, and of what will come tomorrow; personally Im afraid.
