Teen's death leads to charges

The mysterious death of a young boy has resulted in criminal charges against a Kelowna man.

On June 2 of last year, Geordie Sutherland was found unconscious at a friend's place. He was transported to KGH where he was pronounced dead.

The Grade 9 Springvalley Middle school student was only 15.

Kelowna RCMP say that after a lengthy investigation including toxicology reports, they have charged a Kelowna man in connection with Sutherland's death.

Jake Cybak, 49, is charged with manslaughter, criminal negligence causing death, and drug trafficking.

He's been released from custody and is due back in court later this month.
