You know you’re a Camp Person When . . .


Most of your stories start with, “and then there was this one time at camp”

Sandal and watch tan lines are a competition

Screaming and running at the same time is a coveted skill

Sharpies, pens and duct tape are worth more than gold

You can burst into song about anything

You can make anything out of duct tape

You can think of 50 ways to use a bandana

You can walk in the woods at night without a flashlight

You eat ranch with everything

You go to university just to fill time between summers

You have a special set of clothes for camp

When you have at least 16 pictures of the lake all from diffrent angles

You have a collection of outfits for theme weeks

You don’t do it for the money – and you mean it

You were disappointed to find out you can’t major in “camp”

You never refuse free food

You refer to the campers as YOUR kids

You save anything and everything campers have ever made for you

Your voice quality at the end of the week is inversely proportionate to how good
it was

You’ve had to read a policy on bathroom usage

You’ve written a paper about camp for a class

You refer to all of your friends as “buddy"

Your “real-world” friends have limited you to 5 camp stories per day

Your primary method of conflict resolution is the nose game or rock paper scissors

You know all 753 ½ verse to “Let me see your funky chicken”

You have about 20 mosquito bites in 1 square inch of skin

You have an entire volume of camp-friendly CDs

You can wash, shampoo, and shave your legs in less than 5 minutes

Dressing up involves only slightly cleaner clothes

You don’t think non-camp people can understand your summer job

You have mastered the art of maximizing 12 hours off

You think a day and a half off is a blessing

All you want to do is give up everything and travel when camp is over

Your first instinct when you hear about a place is to wonder how long it would take to get there.

You could spend more time in the lake than at Disney World

The words “Cabin Activity” are your favourite part of the day

You can make an activity like spoons last 3 hours

When you look around you in the shower and wonder where everybody else is

You, and everybody else around you, can burst into a perfect rendition of “Three Striped Penguins” - forwards and backwards

You count the number of handmade pieces of jewellery on your body as marks of how cool you are

All of your jewellery has a story behind it

When you get sad every time you pass the turn off

You refer to your friends by a camp name in public places, because you don’t actually know their real name, or you think it suits them better than their real name
