I AM A CHRISTIAN

When I say... "I am a Christian" I'm not shouting "I'm clean livin." I'm whispering "I was lost," Now I'm found and forgiven.

When I say..."I am a Christian" I don't speak of this with pride. I'm confessing that I stumble and need CHRIST to be my guide.

When I say... "I am a Christian" I'm not trying to be strong. I'm professing that I'm weak and need HIS strength to carry on.

When I say... "I am a Christian" I'm not bragging of success. I'm admitting I have failed and need God to clean my mess.

When I say... "I am a Christian" I'm not claiming to be perfect, My flaws are far too visible but, God believes I am worth it.

When I say.. "I am a Christian" I still feel the sting of pain, I have my share of heartaches to I call upon His name.

When I say... "I am a Christian" I'm not holier than thou, I'm just a simple sinner who received God's good grace, somehow.

We are all Sinners

Ecclesiastes 7:20 For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.
Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one

James 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

The punishment for our Sin is Death

Ezekiel 18:4 Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.

CHRIST died to Save Sinners

When you do die, whats next?
What's the purpose of your life?
Are you here to get rich or die trying?
Are you hear to find a soul mate and live happily ever after?
Maybe you're trying to figure all that out.

Some people are scared to die, others say theyre ready to die.
But almost everyone wants to go to heaven. Whether theyre hoping for a heaven for a gangsta or a hip-hop heaven people want to get to heaven.

People want heaven because they hear its a better place or a place where dreams come true. Well heaven is better, matter of fact there is no pain, no suffering, and no death there. There is no need for church buildings in heaven because people dont need to be reminded to kick it with God. Everyone is there WITH GOD forever.

Are you going to Heaven? People say there is no way to know for sure, but God says in 1 John 5:13 , These things i have written to you...that you may KNOW that you have eternal life...
Heaven and Eternal life are free gifts to those who know and are known by God.

Do you know God? Or whats really serious is, does God know you? Most people would love to be known by their favorite entertainer. Youve seen contests where you hang out with a star for a day right? But to be known by the Creator of the universe thats major.

Im sure you're thinking Hes God, He knows everybody, but the Bible tells us in Matthew 7:23 that the same folks who hope to run up to God saying Sup God lemme in them Gates! He will say to them Away from me I never knew you.

In Genesis 2 Adam and God hung pretty tight until Adam disobeyed and sinned against God. After that God and man were separated and Adams sin passed down to us like bad family traits. You got your mommas eyes, daddys nose, and Adams sin. Since he was the first man, all men and women after him sin too. For All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23. Can you honestly say you have never lied, stolen, or had a dirty or evil thought? Those are what you call sins. Sin is anything that offends or falls short of Gods perfect standard. Basically we are born into more sin than Bill Gates kids are born into money. We have a problem.

The Problem is that God has to Punish sin.
He's not like a t.v. judge on Divorce Court, hes the perfect judge. Any Good judge would sentence you for committing a crime, and our crimes (sins) will be Judged by the Perfect Judge. What is the sentence for sin? The Bible tells us it is death and eternal destruction and separation from God and His goodness forever. The wages of sin is death... Romans 6:23
These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power... 2 Thessalonians 1:9

What can we do about this?
The bad news is WE cant do anything. There are no plea bargains and we cant beg the judge for another chance. When we mess with laws they dont care about how nice we are or how sorry we are. Laws are laws. If you jump out of a plane the law of gravity doesn't care how bad you want to get back into the plane, you're gonna fall. Gods laws are no different. They are perfect and there is no getting around them. There is no debating or earning your way into the Laws good graces. If it wont work in Peoples Court it most definitely wont work in Gods. Whats worse is that God tells us in James 2:10 that whoever breaks one law is guilty of breaking them all. Whether a person steals one car or steals 20, hes guilty of stealing, and whether you tell a little white lie or rob a bank, you are guilty of sinning against a perfect God.

Isnt God loving and forgiving though? True. God is perfect in His love and forgiveness, but Hes also perfect in His justice. If you can stand in His court and admit that you are guilty and deserve punishment for your crimes then His love and forgiveness will be better than cold water in a hot desert.

This love and forgiveness is found in Jesus Christ. He is more than a homeboy or a name in hot song. He is Gods perfect, and Holy Son. Out of love Jesus left Heaven to hang out with us sinners for 33 long years. While he was here never lied, cheated, stole, or had an evil thought. He never sinned and never offended the Father. In fact, He wanted to please the Father so badly that while people ran around committing crimes against God, Jesus offered to pay the fine for everyones past, present, and future crimes. He was the only one who had enough in the Bank of Righteousness to do it. No one else was or is perfect, holy, or righteous enough to pay the price.
The Price is heavy; it's death on a Cross. It's letting God pour out all the anger we deserved on Jesus. Jesus offered to do this out love. God demonstrates his love toward us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
Christ, who didnt deserve to die rose from the dead, but his death paid our debt, which for us means freedom!

Do you trust in Jesus? Trusting in Jesus means more than being free from the punishment of your crimes. It means you are free to Know and be Known by God. Free to say no to sin. Free to have purpose, which is living for God. Do you really trust that he actually did all that? Do you trust that he can free you from your sin? No matter how hard we try we cant earn this freedom by trying to live right and going to church every Sunday. We cant buy this freedom by giving to charities or churches. We cant talk our way into this freedom with excuses or explanations. We can only accept the offer Jesus gives to pay for our freedom. The Bible says in Ephesians 2:8 it is by grace that you have been saved through faith and not of yourselves it is the gift of God...

If you want to accept that offer take time to pray and confess you are guilty of sin and that you want to accept the gift of freedom Christ gives by His death. Ask Christ to free you from your sin and give you eternal life with Him, which is a PURPOSEFUL MEANINGFUL LIFE WITH GOD.
