but
i tried to write you a poem like you wanted
and it didnt come out right.
i want this one to be about you and me, obviously,
but not just the essence of being with you.
i want it to capture how it feels
when you press your lips to my forhead
and my eyes drift close as i smile
because it's so simple and real.
or when we hold hands, it's not just that.
it's my stomach twisting at the shock of
your skin: the physical matter that essentially makes you
has wrapped and entertwined itself around mine.
i want the poem to be able to tell what i feel
when i lay my head on your chest
and listen to your heart beating.
to literally be able to hear you existing
right there in my arms.
but im not sure which words to string together
to put my feelings on display.
