That You were born to die

So that one day I could pray for You to save my life

Today was our first of three Canadian shows. Talk about pros and cons. Our cell phones cost like 70 cents a minute up here, which means they're off limits. Which means my Mom and I don't get to gossip about old lady McCleary and the mysterious "mail man" that shows up daily without any mail. BUT. Today's show is the biggest of the tour so far. Who would've guessed!? Calgary! Somewhere that we've only played on the Warped Tour. We had a really fun time playing the set. (ha! that sentence sounds like an excerpt from a 5th grader's "What I Did On My Summer Vacation" report). John Warne got the idea that we should make a cartoon, so we started working on Episode 1 today. Its going to be pretty funny, I think. We'll keep you updated Matty T

Trinity 601

Did God announce his triune nature in the first three verses of the Bible? --- from www.carm.org discussion forums

1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

2 The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters.

3 Then God said, "Let there be light;" and there was light.

God (Elohiym) appears in each of the first three verses of the Bible. To quote from my study Bible: "the Hebrew noun 'Elohiym' is plural, but it is used with a singular verb, a normal usage in the OT when reference is to the one true God. The use of the plural expresses intensification rather than number and has been called the 'plural of majesty.'"

Verse 1: The heavens and the earth were created by God. As we see later in Genesis 1, this verse is just a prologue to the six days of creative activity by God. In Gen. 2:4, the Creator of the heavens and the earth is identified as the LORD God (Yahweh) (Elohiym). The Hebrew word YHWH (Yahweh) is the sacred name of God. Yahweh appears for the first time in Gen. 2:4. Both Yahweh and Elohiym appear thousands of times in the OT, sometimes together, as in Gen. 2:4, and sometimes alone as in Gen. 1: 1-3. Their usage clearly indicates that both refer to the one and only true God. Yahweh is identified with God the Father in Deut. 32:6, Is. 63:16; 64:8, and Mal. 2:10.

Verse 2: Here we see the "Spirit of God", i.e., the Holy Spirit. In Job 32:4 and Ps. 104:30, the Spirit of God participates in creation. In the NT, God is described as a spirit by nature (John 4:24); in Acts 5:3-5, the Holy Spirit is called God.

Verse 3: "and God said". This phrase occurs nine times in Gen. 1 in describing the six days of creation by God. The Hebrew word for 'said' is amar which means to speak or utter (Strong's Concordance). Creation came through the spoken word of God. As Psalm 33:6 states:

"By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, And by the breath of His mouth all their host."

The first three verses of John testify about the “word” (logos) of God and creation:

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2 He was in the beginning with God.

3 All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.

The third verse affirms that it was through the Word that the universe was created. In Greek, “Word” is logos which literally means “a word, uttered by a living voice.” (see Strong’s Concordance #3056).

The fourteenth verse of John tells us more about the Word (logos):

14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Giving the Apostle John the final word and the final three verses (from 1 John 1)

1 What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the Word of Life --

2 and the life was manifested, and we have seen and testify and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was manifested to us --

3 what we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ.
