On the 17th of November, Danielle wrote a new entry into her diary. Tear-stained pages read the following:
“My baby puppy, Madox, went missing two days ago. Mom put him outside at two in the morning. She put him out in the freezing rain. She didn’t think about how he doesn’t have enough fur to stay warm. He definitely doesn’t have enough survival skills to stay out all night in the woods with coyotes everywhere. She went to sleep and in the morning she couldn’t find him. My own mother didn’t have enough guts to tell me that she lost him. She quietly called the local animal shelter to keep an eye out for him but she was ‘sure he would come home on his own.’
This afternoon, after I had come back from school, my step-dad came into my room and told me that our neighbour had found Madox. I knew what he was going to say before he told me. I buried my face in my hands and cried with no end while he told me that he had suffered an injury and died. Perhaps he
