THIS IS THE LAST CHAPTER. Until I start getting comments, that is.
Chapter Eight
I was awoken by Vince lightly shaking me, I opened my eyes and moved my head away from his shoulder before I let out a long yawn. I looked around at all the passengers that were getting their luggage out of the compartments and started filing off the plane.
“We’re finally here?” I asked.
“Yes, love. You slept through the whole plane ride.”
“Thank God.” I mumbled causing him to smile.
I stood up from my seat and headed off the plane with Vince closely behind me as we walked into the terminal to claim our luggage. Vince insisted on carrying it even though I told him I was fully capable of doing it on my own, but no. We called a taxi and it pulled over in front of us and he loaded our bags into the back before getting inside.
“Aiden just texted me and said they’re at the Eiffel Tower, let’s go.”
“Okay but where are we staying?”
“He has my tour bus.” I rolled my eyes, of course he does, what was I thinking? It’s Aiden we’re talking about here, it doesn’t surprise me in the least bit.
Vince told the driver to take us to the Eiffel Tower and about ten minutes later we were there but I didn’t see the boys anywhere, however, I spotted the tour bus out. Vince punched the code in to get in and the door open to find it empty. We laid our bags in the back before we exited the bus in search for them.
I spotted Aiden a couple yards away laying on the grass with Josh, Dico and Jesse. I smiled as I snuck up behind Aiden and jumped on him causing him to fall onto the ground with a thud, he was getting ready to yell when he saw it was me and his face softened and he squeezed me tight as he pulled us both up off the ground.
“You’re finally here.” He said hugging me again.
“Obviously, but now I’m mad at you.”
“Why?”
“You know I hate flying!” I yelled shoving him a little.
“I know, I’m sorry, but you guys should’ve been back and we wouldn’t have left without you.”
“You’re a jerk Aiden.” I said pouting.
“I know but you love me.”
“Someone has to, but really why are we here?” I asked.
“I planned on ruining Doug and Emily’s anniversary.” I rolled my eyes and slapped him on the arm before I told him that wasn’t nice, and of course I had to be there to be an accomplice so part of this was going to get blamed on me, smart thinking Aiden.
We were all just sitting in the grass trying to spot out Emily and Doug amongst the crowds of people, it was quite difficult. That was until Jesse spotted Doug up on top of the Eiffel tower and then all hell broke loose. We began to follow them while Josh did stupid shit behind their backs.
Eventually Aiden grew impatient and couldn’t take it any longer that when he got the bright idea of Josh wrecking a bike into a trashcan to get their attention, and it worked. The look on Doug’s face was a look to kill, and Aiden would’ve been dead if that were possible.
“Aiden, what the hell are you doing here?” She yelled.
“We came to ruin your anniversary.”
“Why would you do that?”
“Look who you’re talking to.” I said hugging Emily for sympathy. She sighed and hugged me back, this was going to be a vacation from hell, I could feel it already. We were currently standing in line to get into the mausoleum to see the Mona Lisa and Aiden was getting antsy, I could tell by the way he was moving.
“Do we have to stay here?” He asked.
“I want to see the Mona Lisa, Aiden.” Doug replied.
“Here.” He said taking out a book of a picture of her in it.
“It’s not the same.” She replied and he rolled his eyes.
“Let’s leave, and travel all over Europe.”
“And how are we going to do that?”
“I have Vince’s tour bus.” He said smiling, Doug stared at him as if he were wondering if he was really telling the truth or lying about it. "But he wasn’t lying he really did take their tour bus, I was on it earlier." He agreed to it and we all got on the bus and took off to our next destination, I was glaring out the window.
Wondering what else he was going to pull while we were here.
Chapter Seven
I walked into the house to complete silence, it was so quiet it creeped me out and caused goosebumps to form on my skin. I looked around at the deserted house to find it empty, no trace of anyone, anywhere. I turned around to face Vince, who had the same look on his face as I did, wondering what was going on.
I walked over to the staircase and slowly made my way down it into the pirate bar, where once again no one was. I looked around for maybe a note of some sort, that’s when I noticed the note taped on the door with Aiden’s sloppy handwriting placed upon it.
Doug and Emily decided to go to Europe for their anniversary so we decided to follow them, by the time you read this we will already be on a plane out, call me. Love ya, Aiden.
“What!” I practically yelled, staring up at Vince who was smirking like it was nothing new for Aiden to do something like this, which it really wasn’t, but he just left me here?
“You know what this means right?” He asked.
“No, enlighten me.”
“We’re going to Europe.”
“And I just got here, this is going to be a pleasant stay.”
He smiled at me and nudged me towards the stairs where we walked into our rooms and grabbed a bag throwing some random articles of clothing in. I closed mine and headed down the stairs, where Vince was standing by the door with an unlit cigarette in his mouth.
“How exactly are we going to get to the airport?” I asked.
“Simple, we’re taking the Mercedes and you’re driving, love.” He said tossing me a set of keys.
“Oh no, I will not be responsible for this car.”
“Well, you have to be because I can’t drive and we have no other way to the airport, unless you wanna stay here while they’re in Europe having fun.”
I glared up at him as he placed his hand on his hip and glared back down at me, I sighed and picked up my bag, opening the door for him before locking it and closing it behind me. I unlocked the car and climbed into the driver’s seat while he placed out bags in the back. I stuck the key in the ignition and started it up, as soon as Vince was in the car I started off slowly down the road.
There was no way I was going to speed in this car, with my luck I would wreck or get a scratch on it and I really didn’t want Aiden to hate me for it. I pulled cautiously into the airport parking lot about 10 minutes later, I locked the doors after he grabbed our bags and headed inside where Aiden was currently on the phone with Vince telling him his whereabouts.
“He’s on his way to Paris.” He stated putting the phone in his pocket.
“Let’s go.” I said dragging him up to the desk where we got two immediate plane tickets to Paris. We went through everything inside and were currently boarding the plane, first class all courtesy to our lovely Aiden.
Once everyone was boarded the captain came over the intercom and told us to buckle our seat belts for takeoff. I did as instructed and gripped onto the armrest which Vince’s arm was placed upon to keep my calm because I absolutely hated flying. I let go of his arm as the plane steadied itself in the air and looked out the window.
“I’m going to kill Aiden for this.” I warned.
“Why?” He chuckled.
“He knows I hate flying, when we came to see you that first summer, I about had a panic attack, Aiden had to talk me down, it was pretty bad.”
“I didn’t know that.” He said holding in a chuckle, I squinted my eye at him and he cracked a toothy smile.
“That’s why I had a death grip on your arm.”
“I was wondering why you were doing that, I’m pretty sure it’s gonna leave a bruise.” He said examining his arm. I rolled my eyes and shoved him with my shoulder, I yawned and laid my head against his shoulder and closed my eyes.
“Tired?”
“Mhm.” I mumbled.
“Go to sleep, I’ll wake you up when we get there.” I nodded against his shoulder and let myself fall into a peaceful sleep, thinking about Aiden.
And what else was in store for me on this trip.
Chapter Six
Seeing as how I had time on my hands I decided to explore the house a little bit, it would get me more used to things. I checked out every room in the house and was still walking around aimlessly and Aiden still wasn’t back yet.
I wondered down into the kitchen where I put on another pot of coffee, I patiently waited until it was done and poured a cup. I sat down at the bar and enjoyed it in silence, that was until I heard car doors coming from upstairs.
I quickly jumped to my feet and raced up the stairs and into the living room where Aiden was coming into the door, with no one else following him. I raised my eyebrow slightly in confusion as he had a wicked smirk placed across his face.
“Close your eyes.” He ordered, I did as I was told and closed my eyes and waited for whoever it was to show up.
“Open them.” A voice with a thick accent said. I opened my eyes to find Vince standing there, I squealed and jumped into his arms as he caught me and hugged my tightly.
“Oh, Vince, I’ve missed you terribly.” I stated sticking my bottom lip out.
“That my dear, is why I am here.” He grinned, I squealed again from all of the excitement, Vince was my other best friend as we were growing up, but because he lived in Finland it was hard to see each other as much as we liked.
“I love you Aiden.” I said jumping and wrapping myself around him, he laughed and started to spin me in circles as I clung tightly onto him, already feeling light-headed.
“What the hell is going on?” Brittany’s voice came from the doorway, like nails on a chalkboard.
“Nothing.” Aiden said, still holding me.
“Is there a good reason why she’s in your arms?”
“There doesn’t need to be a reason.” He smirked.
She squinted her eyes at him as I jumped down out of his arms and walked over to the couch taking a seat, and that’s when the yelling began, her yelling about me being here and how much of an affect I had on his attitude and a bunch of other unnecessary bullshit, in my opinion.
Vince sat down beside me and I sighed leaning my head against his shoulder as he placed his on top of mine and wrapped an arm around my shoulders. They continued to stand there and fight, well more like him standing there taking the shit she was dishing out.
“Maybe I shouldn’t have came here.” I mumbled.
“How come, love?” Vince asked.
“My presence has already caused a mess, she doesn’t want me here.”
“But Aiden does.” He said nodding. “And this is his house.”
Okay, so, he did have a point but it would soon be both of their houses if he really got married to her, then I’m pretty sure I’d never be allowed to step foot in here again. I really wouldn’t put it past her, I didn’t know her but I could already tell what she was about.
“Want to go for a walk?” Vince asked, standing up, I nodded as I placed my hand in his and he pulled me up with him and drug me towards the door to leave them two alone. We started to walk down the driveway and ended up on the road, we walked for 5 minutes until we were in town. Vince opened the door to a little restaurant as we took our seats near the window.
A waitress walked over and placed two menus down in front of us on the table. I picked it up and scanned over the things that they offered. I decided on cheese fries and a coke as the waiter wrote our orders down and walked away towards the kitchen, I stared out the window slightly spacing in and out before Vince brought me completely out of my thoughts.
“What?” I asked looking up to meet his gaze.
“I said, how long are you staying for?” He repeated laughing slightly.
“I don‘t know, actually.” I shrugged while taking a sip of my drink. He smirked slightly as our food came, we sat and ate while we chit chatted about our lives and what we’ve been doing since we last seen each other, which felt like an eternity ago.
We finished eating, and we were finally on our way back to Aiden’s after arguing over who was going to pay for about ten minutes, needless to say, he won. I kicked the rocks on the road as my thoughts were starting to get the best of me.
“What’s wrong, darling?” He asked. I sighed and shrugged.
“This whole Aiden situation.”
“Don’t worry about it.” He reassured.
“I can’t help it.”
“He loves you.” He stated and I gave him a ‘duh’ look. “As more than a friend.”
Wait, how did he know?
Chapter Five
I woke up extra early the next morning which was entirely unlike me considering I love to sleep. I wasn’t lazy or anything but if I was able to sleep in a couple extra hours then I’m definitely not one to complain about it.
Those thoughts were all still racing through my mind and that’s partially the reason why I was awake at seven in the morning and also due to the fact that someone was walking around the house with a foghorn, not a normal wake up call but look who I’m staying with.
I swung my legs over the bed pulling myself up out of bed as I walked across the soft carpet towards the door. I yanked open the door and walked down the stairs to find Dico with a Viking hat on and the foghorn in hand.
“So, you’re the one that woke me up.” I grinned.
“Yeah, everyone should be awake.”
“Don’t you ever sleep?”
“Not really, I’m an insomniac.”
I laughed lightly as he grinned his half-assed smile, I walked over to the cupboards and pulled them open scanning over everything looking for something to make for breakfast. I was about to pull out a box of pancake mix when Emily and Doug walked in.
“Morning honey.” She smiled cheerfully as Doug came over and pulled me into a huge bear hug.
“Morning mom, dad.” I grinned, showing off all my teeth.
“Are you hungry?”
“I’m always hungry.” I stated causing her to laugh.
“Well, I’m going to make breakfast, I’ll call you when it’s ready.”
“I want to help.” I smiled, she shook her head as I walked over to where she was standing currently making biscuits. I pulled out the pancake mix and got everything I would need to make them. I stirred it all together before I started pouring it into the skillet. I flipped them occasionally while I put on a pot of coffee.
Emily watched me as I sat three stacked plates full of pancakes onto the counter as I began to work on the bacon, while it was frying I started to make toast and help with the gravy that Em was currently making.
“You’re a natural in the kitchen.” She pointed out.
“Thanks, I love to cook.” I smiled.
Aidens Point Of View
I woke up to that annoying foghorn that Dico is constantly shooting off at random hours in the morning while everyone is trying to sleep. I rolled over to find the bed empty and a note laying there from Brittany that said something about wedding shit.
I pulled myself out of bed as the sweet smell of food filled my nostrils, I made my way to the door and swung it open walking lazily down the stairs, considering I was still half asleep. I stood at the very top of the steps and could see Bella helping Emily cook.
I smiled to myself at how cute she looked when she was focused, and I was still thinking about what she said to Brittany yesterday. She had a lot of guts to say that to a stressing bride, but I knew Bella would never put up with people giving her friend's shit, and that’s why I loved her.
“Thanks for waking me up, asshole.” I said smacking Dico upside the head causing him to laugh maniacally.
“Your ass needs to be up.” He replied, as I rolled my eyes and walked fully into the kitchen where Bella’s eyes connected with mine and she smiled widely.
“Good Morning, Sunshine.” She said causing me to lightly laugh.
“Morning, Sleeping Beauty.” I said back causing her to arch an eyebrow and cock her head to the side, her long blonde hair falling into her face slightly, she smiled showing off her dimples, the way she did that day I had kissed her.
Yes I remembered that.
“Sleeping beauty?” She asked.
“Yes, the movie, you remind me of her.” I pointed out and she laughed slightly before placing a plate in front of me with all kinds of good food. I smiled and thanked her before I started munching down.
Bellas Point Of View
After everyone had successfully woken up and had their fair share of eating we were all packed into the living room watching TV and trying to figure out something to do to keep us entertained for the time being.
I was currently sprawled out on the couch, my legs resting across Brians’s lap while my head was placed on Aiden’s stomach, there wasn’t much of one there but he was still comfortable nonetheless. I yawned, obviously getting bored with the TV and just sitting around.
I felt something vibrate from beneath my shoulder blade and Aiden moved me around a little to dig into his pocket to retrieve the vibration, he pulled out his phone and looked down at the number smiling before opening it and pressing it to his ear. The conversation was in mumbles and I couldn’t make out what he was saying.
“I’ll be there shortly.” Was all Aiden said before sliding the phone back into his pocket.
“Who was that?” Josh asked.
“Someone I have to go pick up form the airport.”
“Who?” I asked.
“It’s a suprise , now lets go shitheads, Bella you stay here.”
“Why?”
“You’ll see.” Was all he said as he got up and exited the house, leaving me there all alone to be bored, so much for doing something. I let my thoughts linger on who the mysterious person might be, I would have to know them if Aiden was keeping it a secret.
Guess we’ll find out.
Chapter Four
I had unpacked everything and put everything in it’s place, I was little bit OCD when it came to my room, even though technically it wasn’t my room. But I was still staying here nonetheless. I stepped out of the room, my bare feet against the cold wood floor as I made my way downstairs.
I looked around the house and there wasn’t a soul in here, so I made my way down to the pirate bar, as they called it, where Emily was sitting. She looked up from her magazine and smiled at me, in which I returned.
“Where’s Aiden?” I asked.
“Outside with the boys.” She said rolling her eyes, as soon as she said boys my eyes lit up, I ran out the door and into the soft grass, I looked around to find them off in the field doing something. As I approached I noticed they were on four wheelers in the mud.
Josh was the first to notice me as he came flying over and slid sideways in front of me. I grinned and wrapped my arms around him, which he returned by pulling me onto the back of his ATV. I gripped his waist tightly as he drove through a huge mud hole, causing mud to fling in every direction.
Everyone had parked their ATVs and now we were just having a full out mud fight, there’s wasn’t a spot on us that was clean. I giggled as Dico rubbed the mud in my honey colored locks causing some if it to fall down into my face.
“I’ve missed you guys.” I said pulling them into one big hug.
“The feeling is mutual.” Brian replied.
We sat in the soft grass out in the field just talking about old times and new ones, what we have been doing since we last saw each other, or spoke to for that matter. It felt good to be home and here with the people I cared about the most, especially Aiden.
I still remember that day like it was yesterday, when Aiden kissed me. I’m pretty sure I grinned like an idiot for the rest of the day, until I had to leave. Emily always told us we would wind up married someday, but that obviously wasn’t going to happen.
I was still letting this marriage deal sink in, even though I really didn’t want it to, I didn’t want it to be real, I mean I didn’t plan to come out here and start a relationship with Aiden, but I definitely didn’t expect him to be getting married to someone other than me.
Okay, now I was just being dumb. Even if he weren’t with her there was still a chance that it would never happen between Aiden and I, because well, I’m his best friend and you don’t get married to your best friends. Right?
I was drug out my thoughts by someone yelling Aiden’s name, well more like screaming. I looked up to see Brittany heading our way. She stopped on the edge of the field obviously not wanting to get herself all muddy.
Was it wrong of me to think bad thoughts of her? Maybe I should give her a chance for the sake of Aiden and I’s friendship, although she didn’t strike me as someone who I would want to be buddies with. She stood with her hands on her hips with an angry expression painted across her face.
“What?” He asked walking up towards her, everyone got up and followed, as did I.
“What do you think you’re doing?”
“What does it look like I’m doing?” He asked matching her tone.
“Obviously not what you’re supposed to be doing.”
“Which is?”
“Helping me plan this wedding for Christ’s sake.”
He rolled his eyes as he walked past her and everyone followed, she caught up to him and continued to go on about the wedding and how he wasn’t helping or how he wasn’t doing this right, or how he can never doing anything right, I got fed up with her yelling at him.
“Why don’t you give him a break?” I asked.
“Why don’t you mind your own business?” She replied rudely.
“Aiden is my best friend, and for some reason he’s marrying a bitch like you.” I said placing my hands on my hips as everyone’s mouths just hung open, even Aiden’s.
“Excuse me?”
“You heard me, if you lightened up a little he might actually come around more.” I replied before walking inside. I walked upstairs to my room where I was stopped by Emily, who had a smile on her face.
“I heard what you said to Brittany.” She stated and I frowned a little, maybe I shouldn’t have called her that.
“Yeah, about that, sorr- “
“No, someone had to put her in her place and thankfully you were there.” She laughed as I smiled and pulled her into a tight hug before I walked into my room and pulled all my muddy clothes off. I went into the bathroom and turned the shower on to my liking before stepping in and rinsing all the mud off.
I stepped out when I was finished and dried off heading back into my room slipping on a pair of shorts and tank top. I hopped up onto the huge bed and made myself comfortable before turning the TV on, I flicked through a hundred channels it seemed and I still couldn’t find anything to watch.
I sighed and turned the TV off and the lamp before I got under the warm covers and snuggled against the dark purple colored pillows. I inhaled the scent off of them and I smiled as I realized it smelled like Aiden, his scent was always the same but I loved it.
I shut my eyes and tried to block out all of the negative thoughts that were running through my mind at the moment. I can officially say I have a new enemy, not that I was proud of it or anything but things happen and I knew this wasn’t the end of our little feud.
Things were about to get crazy.
Chapter Three
Aiden looked slightly confused as his eyes darted back and forth between the two of us. I cleared my throat and picked up my bag. Uh, awkward?
“Maybe we should go.” Aiden said, breaking the silence.
“Yeah.” I agreed looking at my feet.
Aiden wrapped his arm around Brittany, and I walked slightly behind, feeling extremely out of place and just a tad bit jealous. I had always had feelings for Aiden, I don’t ever remember him mentioning her, not once.
I shook the thoughts out of my head as we reached a blue hummer in the parking lot. Aiden took my bags and threw them in the back. I opened the door behind the driver’s side and he stopped me, I looked up at him confused.
“Brittany, let Bella sit in the front.”
“Are you serious?” She asked walking over to him.
“Uhm, yeah.”
“No, it’s fine.” I said.
“We have catching up to do.” He stated.
“Okay.” I said hesitantly, considering the situation I was currently in. I walked around the front and stopped, placing a devilish smile on my face.
“Let me drive.” I said.
“Don’t think so.”
“Please.” I said using my puppy dog face that always worked on him.
“Well, okay.” He said tossing me the keys.
I grinned and skipped around the hummer getting into the driver’s seat. I readjusted my seat to where I could reach the peddles. I wasn’t short but he had that seat going pretty far back. I started it up and took off down the highway. Aiden was rocking out to CKY and Brittany was extremely quiet. I don’t think she liked how close Aiden and I were.
“You’re a dangerous driver.” He said.
“And you aren’t?”
“Well, I never said that.”
“Exactly.”
I smiled to myself and kept driving down the interstate. I had no idea where I was going, I knew where Aiden used to live but I hadn’t been to his new house yet, I wasn’t sure what to expect but knowing him it was something crazy.
“Turn here.” He instructed.
I made a left turn onto a dirt road and looked around at all the unfamiliar places, well most. I kind of knew where I was at, it had been awhile since I was here, give me a break.
“Turn right.”
I made a hard right turn and pulled onto a blacktop driveway, I pulled in front of a castle looking place with double doors that had heartagrams on them. I smiled to myself as I thought back on Aiden and Michael, those were the days.
“When did you move here?”
“We moved here awhile back.” Brittany snapped.
“Oh, cool.”
“Yeah.” Aiden said rolling his eyes.
I smiled up at him and looked towards the house where a blonde lady was coming in my direction, smiling. Once she got closer I realized it was Emily. I swung open the driver’s door and leaped down before closing the door.
“Mom!” I yelled running to her.
“Bella.” She said pulling me into a hug.
“How are you and dad?”
I had always called Emily and Doug mom and dad because they pretty much treated me as their own and I was at their house every day. I basically lived there half the time which they didn’t seem to mind one bit.
“We’re good, it’s so good to see you honey.”
“I know, it’s been too long.”
“Yes it has, you should be around more.”
I nodded and walked with her inside and looked around at the very dark yet elegant house. It was definitely something that I expected out of Aiden with his crazy taste and unique spreadsheet of color choices. I could definitely get used to this.
“This house is beautiful.” I muttered.
“Thanks.” Aiden said picking me up and spinning me around, just like when we were younger.
“Some things never change.” Emily said.
“What?” Brittany asked.
“They were always like this.”
“Oh.” Was all that escaped her lips. I blushed slightly and took a step back from him not wanting to cause drama between us, or her and Aiden.
“Come with me.” He demanded grabbing my bags. I followed him up the stairs and on a balcony which had several bedrooms lined up. He opened a door and took a step inside as I followed his motions, I looked around the room, it was a deep purple colored with black heartagrams scattered amongst the wall with a huge bed in the middle of the room and a walk in closet.
“This is your room. Come down when you get unpacked.” He said exiting the room.
Oh, I could definitely get used to this.
Chapter Two - Fast Forward
I walked down the damp street, my boots clicking against the pavement as I did so. I walked up the steps to my town house and unlocked the door before going inside, I threw my keys down onto the small table beside the door and hung my purse up on the rack.
My leg started to vibrate and I soon realized it was my phone ringing, I pulled it out of my pocket and looked down at the unknown number that was flashing upon the screen, hesitant I answered it anyway.
“Hello?”
“Bella?” A man’s voice asked.
“This is her, who is this?” I said taking a drink of water.
“Aiden.”
I spit my water out and nearly dropped the glass that my hand was now gripped tightly around, was this some kind of joke? Or was it really my Aiden? Maybe I didn’t hear him right.
“Excuse me?”
“Aiden.” He repeated.
“Is it really you?”
“Yes.”
“I’ve missed you so much.” I gushed.
“I’ve missed you too. Say, why don’t you come out to Westchester?”
“What? That is so random.”
“I know but we need to catch up and there’s someone special I want you to meet.”
“Uhm, okay. Let me pack and I’ll get a plane ticket out.”
“Okay, bye.”
I rolled my eyes at his last minute plans and walked upstairs to my room. I had only seen him a couple times since I moved here and now all of sudden he wanted me to go out there on such short notice? Some things never change.
I pulled my suitcases out from under my bed and started throwing my clothes into it. Once I was done I drug it downstairs and called the airport to purchase a ticket. I glanced around my house briefly before I sat down and let it all sink in.
I called a cab and walked outside. I slid onto the leather that covered the backseat while the driver loaded my luggage into the trunk. He got in and we were on our way to the airport. He stopped in front of the entrance and I paid him before I went in and went through all the airport nonsense.
Shortly after I was sitting in the seat near the window glancing out; I was on my way to see my best friend.
On my way back home.
Aidens Point Of View
“Yo.” I yelled walking down the stairs.
“What babe?” Brittany asked from her spot on the couch.
“Where’s my purple blazer?”
“In the laundry room, why?”
“I have to pick someone up from the airport and I want to wear it.”
“Why? I’m coming.”
“It’s a surprise.”
I walked off into the laundry room and grabbed the jacket off the hanger and slipped it on. I walked back into the living room and grabbed my keys off the table before sliding my sunglasses up my nose and heading towards the door.
“Hurry up.” I yelled walking outside.
I walked over to my blue hummer and got in the driver’s side. Brittany came running out of the house and I started it up and drove off down the road in silence. I wondered what Bella looked like now, if she had a boyfriend, or even if she changed at all.
We pulled up in front of the airport and I hopped out locking the doors before heading towards the sliding glass doors. I stepped into the building, noticing it was extremely chaotic. I searched the faces but didn’t see her anywhere.
“Who is it?” Brittany asked, yet again.
“My best man.”
“I thought Jess was?”
“No.”
“Great, another idiot.”
“Anything but.” I corrected her.
She gave me a weird look and I simply smiled in return before I walked over to the vending machines and retrieved a water to subside the dryness that was taking over my mouth, this usually happened when I got nervous, but why was I nervous?
“Aiden!” Someone yelled. I looked over at Brittany, who’s mouth was agape. I looked up to see Bella standing there looking beautiful, my voice got caught in my throat and if it weren’t for the machine I would have fell down.
“Bella.” I said pulling myself together and grasping her into a tight hug.
“Aiden, this is your best man?” Brittany asked, looking angry.
“Best man?” Bella asked confused.
“Bella, this is Brittany, my -”
Back To Bella's Point Of View
“fiancé.” he said.
I raised my eyebrows in shock. Aiden was getting married? No way, this couldn’t be happening, could it? I was in complete and utter shock. I shook myself out of my thoughts and retaliated quickly.
“Hi Brittany, I’m Bella.” I smiled.
She looked me over and snarled a little bit before nodding.
This should be a pleasant stay.
Chapter One
"Aiden, don't you dare!" I shrieked, urging my feet to go faster, as I ran away from the dark haired boy behind me. He laughed maniacally as chunks of hair blew into his dark blue eyes. Ice cold water came shooting out of the green garden hose.
"I'll get you, eventually." He said, throwing it down.
Now that the hose was safely on the ground, I skidded to a halt. My hands instantly fell to my knees as I attempted to catch my breath. That is, before a body threw itself mercilessly onto my back, pushing me into the soft green grass. I grunted and rolled over, gazing into his eyes. They sparkled as the light caught hold of them. I smiled up at him, as a sad expression caught his face.
"I can't believe summer is almost over." I said.
"Me either, I'm really going to miss you."
Aiden and I were both officially seventeen years of age, we had been best friends since we were toddlers, thanks to our mothers. Deep down inside me, I knew I had developed stronger feelings towards him.
"I'll miss you too."
"Do you really have to go?"
"Unfortunately, yes."
He sighed and rolled onto his back. I could see the wheels in his head turning, as he stared up into the summer blue sky, watching the puffy white clouds lazily cross the suns path. I was in fact getting ready to move to California with my mother, until I could live on my own.
"Summers won't be the same without you."
"Oh, I'm sure they'll get better." I stated.
"No, I highly doubt it."
"Quite being so dramatic." I said, shoving his shoulder.
"I'm not dramatic." He scoffed.
"Are so."
"No"
"Uh huh."
“That’s it!” He said latching his hands onto my sides as he began to tickle me, I was in tears and I could barely breathe from laughing and lack of oxygen.
“Stop.” I choked out.
“Fine.” He bent down and lightly pecked my lips.
I touched my lips lightly where his had been just moment before and smiled like an idiot as he chuckled slightly and bit his lip. I started to tell him how I felt but was soon interrupted by my mom telling us it was time to leave.
I watched Aiden cry for the first time since I could remember. I cried with him as I hugged him for the last time.
“Goodbye Aiden."
“Bye Bella, I’ll see you someday.”
I nodded and got into my mom’s black Tahoe. I rolled the window down and watched as Aiden’s house disappeared out of my site. I let a single tear slip down my face and it gently fell against the leather on the door interior.
I felt like a part of me was missing.
