In todays world it is almost acceptable that teens and kids are having sex either with or without protection. I have been a member or leader of a camp called "cool camp" which is about teaching kids about abstaining from sex and teaching them correct birth control techniques that will hopefully help them from problems such as STI's and unplanned teenage pregnancy. Teaching these grade 8 kids can sometimes be a shock because they are very informed about sex and many have already made the decision to have sex. Some of the kids also had no idea about many of the kinds of protection are out there.

One of the kids asked "well, dont you have to be 16 to buy condoms?" This shocked us because many of the kids shared his same views...these kids were also talking about partying and many other things that are illegal and that should not be happening to them when they are 14. One girl thought that she might have aids because her father slept around on her mother while she was trying to get pregnant with this girl
