1. What are some of the main differences that gamers can expect when moving from MW2 to Black Ops?

Well, in Black Ops theyve removed Quickscoping, thats a very big thing for gamers because there's the really annoying community of quickscopers who solely believe if you can't quickscope it's bad. They also think that pro's quickscope, but theres never been a single MLG player that quickscopes in a real match. Also, theyve removed Stopping Power and a different type of Marathon. Marathon is now a Tier 3 (Green) perk and has been reverted back to its Extreme Conditioning effect, where you can only run for an extended amount of time instead of endless sprint. Removing Stopping Power will change the face of the game, it balances EVERYTHING. Your character model is changed by your Tier 1 (Red) perk, and you are able to change your character faction. For example, if you have Lightwieght perk on, your character is lightly armored but while on the Create-A-Class Menu you are able to hit LB or RB to change your faction which adds even more depth to character options. Remember, this does NOT change the faction you play as ingame, it is simply changing your model. Zombies have returned and once again, like how WaW started, you MUST complete the campaign to play the new Zombies maps. There are two new zombies maps, one you are able to play as some of the worlds most renowned leaders such as JFK, Castro, Nixon, etc. and in the other, our great Zombie Hunting group from WaW has returned! The german, the Russian, the American and the Asian (I'm unsure of there names, i forgot them.) Killstreaks have also been changed, they only go upto 11 Kills but they have brought back Dogs from WaW. Get 11 kills with this killstreak unlocked, and unleash the dogs! Chopper gunner has also returned, but now it is MUCH more interactive. now you must actually drive the chopper to where you please, hop off the driver, then hop on the turret while a copilot (or autopilot) circles that area while you are mounting the minigun. There have also been two interesting streaks added to Care Packages, these ones are actually Weapons. The Grim Reaper and the Death Machine. The Grim Reaper is an RPG that shoots out four rockets all at once, causing absolute devastation to your enemies and the Death Machine is a gatling gun (minigun) made to walk around with! You cannot aim down the site while you have th Death Machine equipped, but nothings better than being Rambo and hipfiriing with an abnormally large gun! Do you remember Heavy Gunner from Team Fortress 2? Yeah. That. And for campaign, it is set from the Cold War and sometime around the 90's, if not the present. Very intense, Very indepth story. It feels alot more "real" and gritted. It takes place in Cuba, Vietnam, Northern Russia, America, South American Rain forests, almost everywhere! Not to mention, you can play it alone or go play 4 Player Co-op with friends. Spec Ops has been removed, because it was near pointless. The greatest perk about Black Ops is that the Campaign Maps are based off of the Multiplayer Maps, instead of vice versa, which makes players look forward to a great and amazing multiplayer. You can also Prestige 15 times now, but you only go to Level 50 online. Everything online in the shop costs the same amount of credits, so theres really no reason to hack 10th prestige anymore. Instead of earning attachments, you just pay for them with your CoD Points. There is only four snipers, and the Famas is now automatic. The MP5K has returned BUT it resembles that of the CoD4 MP5 which Pro players will go nuts for. The M16 Makes a return, but its an earlier model. Its still three burst, and once again plays alot more like CoD4s M16, which, once again, the pros will go nuts for. Theres plenty of Camos to choose from, so you are not restricted to simply 6 or 7 camos. Also, theyve introduced Facepaints to add to the character customization and theres alot to choose from. Everything ranges from about 100points-1000points in costs. Theres a new mode called Boot Camp (i think thats what its called.) that allows the community to practice up, whether its integrating a player from Calm and steady singleplayer to heavy multiplayer, or giving a pro a helping hand in deciding which gun they should choose from or test, or even time! In this gametype you play with yourself, against however many bots in whatever gametype. Its so purpose is to integrate Singleplayer lovers to Multiplayer, and be able to enjoy it! Theres so much more thats new, enjoyable, and fresh to the community that theres just to much to explain at this point. Also, to add to hacking prestiges, Treyarch has almost tripled their code layers, meaning it’s a very hard job to crack the game but hey if you’re a coder out there, and you happen to crack Black Ops, be ready to pack your bags and start working for them! Sure your current gamertag will be permabanned, but I hear Treyarch’s good pay. If you want to take a look yourself, there’s leaked footage posted almost everyday and the Call of Duty Wiki has everything you could possibly want to know about it, such as Splitscreen Online Co-Op and theatre, both great ideas borrowed from Halo thatve been integrated into Black Ops.

2. Have you started developing strategies yet? If so what are they?

Ive been looking at some of the new stuff, such as Decoy grenades which put a red dot on the enemies radar, making them believe someone is there. I most likely will play alot around with stealth and my own call of duty tactics, which mostly is comprised of playing it smart, being the enemy, etc. I keep my guns unsilenced, kill someone, run away, watch the spot I just killed someone at and wait for them or a teamate to come for the revenge kill, kill them, repeat, and constantly stay moving along the corners of the map. I play as if my gun only has a clip of bullets left, disciplining my shots and making them very accurrate and percise. As for planting bombs, i'll find my rush plant routes and simply take the risk! Grab bomb, run to bombsite, throw down a smoke nade, get planting asap, planted, run off and cover the bomb. Also, with red dot customization i'll be making those killcams look good with a Purple skull as my red dot! I’ve been debating what gun to start with, it’s between Famas, MPL and MP5K Prototype.

3. What are some other games that you're checking out this fall?

Ive purchased New Vegas and Reach, Medal of Honor has really turned me off because Infinity Ward is disentegrating, and all the IW Ex-Designers have went to the dark side and went to Dice, the producers of Medal of Honor and Bad Company. This is why MoH has alot of CoD stuff in it, when IGN's editor says "It's the best of MW2 and Bad Company," thats because Moh/Bad Company is falling behind in the first person shooter world. New Vegas has been treating me well, its a great game and super addicting like Fallout 3! theres more factions to choose from, and it is hands down the greatest post-apocolypse game ever made. A free, open world where you are the player. I’ve also been enjoying a game of World at War here and there, simply to make sure I still have my skills ready to rock Black Ops. Other then those few, I’ve been playing a indie computer game called Minecraft. It’s such an original game, it looks ridiculous, but once you get started, it’s absolutely awesome. I enjoy my indie games with a lot of potential, such as Minecraft and LIMBO from the XBLA. I played a lot of Reach recently, but I think I’m bored of it now, it just seems like its starting to repeat itself. Even though they raised the level cap, it’s just sort of dull, although I’m a Commander Grade 1! A few days back I was invited to the Dr. Pepper Halo Reach $10,000 Dollar Tournament to play with team Perfection. I screamed like a Japanese school girl.

4. What do you think are some of the main things that you've learned in your one year playing MW2. What do you think its legacy will be?

In the recent year I’ve learned to mute everyone that makes any sort of obnoxious or annoying on noise on MW2, this including prepubescent boys who shouldn’t even have the game. I’ve also learned that even though the MW2 online community is more aggressive than hell itself, keep your cool, play the game, and whenever someone calls out “Tryhard” just remember, that’s just someones way of saying that youre better than them and simply keep your cool, don’t be a flamer online. I learned also that quickscoping is dumb, and such a waste of time simply because that’s ALLL people do on MW2, that’s really all the game has turned into now which is really sad. I remember seeing Optic play their MLG match and got disqualified, Dtreats quickscoped and ran show, he was jesus during that match and the commentators were just in awe of his skills. Nowadays though, its annoying because EVERYONE apparently is part of Optic now even though theres only twenty players on there team, but theres atleast five thousand gamertags with Optic in it. It really annoys me, and because of all the Optic imposters, they stepped down, and zzirGriz stepped down. I also learned that in doubles MLG matches, on defense, both you and your teammate MUST use thermal interventions, but on attack, one thermals while the other rushes and gives the other cover. Such an amazing tactic I learned from playing one of the top MLG Doubles teams, and ever since we took their tactics and made them our own (with our own style of course! We didn’t steal everything they did!) we ran show on Gamebattles MLG Doubles. During MW2, I built my own style of bursting that I’ve mastered, I AM Modern Warfare 2’s Samurai and burst king. Make every bullet count, have faith in those bursts. Always keep a low profile, don’t be scared to get into battle when necessary, don’t shoot anymore bullets than you need to, check your radar every time you can see a red-dot in your peripherals, don’t hesitate with your shots, think what the enemy would think and work around it, get a rush plant off and give yourself tunnel vision to the bombsite with NO interruptions, smoke grenades are more effective than you think they are when used effectively, get behind enemy lines as much as possible, but most of all, relax, keep a cool temper, and come out of those gunfights as the man who’s still standing! Improvise and be on your toes all the time, out of ammo? You have a secondary. Out of secondary? You have a knife. Not good at knifing? You have equipment, flash grenades and such do impact damage. Check every corner, even the tiniest crack but most of all, I’ve learned to just enjoy the game.

the world goes back to normal, but there are only a handful of mutants left in the world

next big story arc happens, Civil War
a mutant named Nitro is using mutant steroids and blows up a fucking school full of kids

iron man is asked by the president to head this initiative, captain america is against it
the super-hero community is split down the middle
(and super-villain)
shit goes down, people die, its fucking horrible, and then captain america takes the high road and turns himself in

R4WH4TE

For those who don't know you tell us a bit about yourself.

I'm a drop out, I've never had a job, I've never owned a cellphone and live with my single mother and two cats named Walken and Winslet. I sleep from 7:00 AM until roughly 5:00 PM. Life is dismal and bleak. I channel my internal despair into raw hate on the internet and my drumkit, which includes three cymbals held up on a broken high-hat stand by three gatorade bottles (previously used as downy blowers still containing brown downy sheets), and flat skins held together primarily by hockey tape.

What are you currently listening to?

Burial and Four Tet's collaboration from last year. Real chill guy. Aand always Radiohead.

What is your opinion on Satan and the Satan Wagon?

I can't quite put my thumb on it. I remember watching some episode of criminal minds where some shit was going down with a murdered cheerleader or something in a small midwest town I think, and all the detectives were like "OMG IT WAS TEH LOCAL SATANISTSs!!!" so they go to this shitty black lodge out the woods where the supposed satanic perpetrators were having one of their Rammstein and red wine parties. They take the "cult leader" back for interrogation and are like flipping shit being like "TEHRES FUCKEN SATANIC IMAGERY ON THESE CORPSES EXPLAIN THIS U PUNK" and he's all coy and smart being like "satan is a hebrew word for opposer. we're like communists and stuff, we just hate all the fundamentalists in this town and wanted to rebel and scare some white folk". I think later in the episode they found out it's like some insecure quarterback who killed the cheerleader. Aside from that I don't really understand the Laveyan Satan hype, for which I know you're a primary promoter. Reminds me of like a modern adaptation of Leviticus, the whole "if an enemy has entered your domain/parent's basement, DESTROY THEM" thing. Darrian can have her fun though.

What are some fond memories that you have from growing up in Rock City?

Every major injury I've sustained, and Elks hall shows. Junior high had me with a dislocated pinky finger, green-twig fracture in my wrist, and a pencil penetrating several inches of my lower-left ass cheek. I would explain but i like to save that story for dinner parties to gross out squeamish turds. Elks hall shows were always a delight, and unfortunately there hasn't been one in well over a year, aside from a hip-hop show earlier this year that I didn't attend. I deeply believe the redemption of Jurassic Park should coincide with the redemption of the Elks hall venue.

Have you ever chilled with the-G-? If so what went down?

I met him quite a couple times at the george (no underage drinking on my part, just wings) actually, he's a pretty nice fellow, although I'm certain quite drunk every time i've seen him, so he probably vaguely remembers me at most.

Have you ever chilled with Clarke Kinaschuk? If so what went down?

Clarke and I are guypals. Last october we probably drank a 40oz to each of us five days out every week, for three weeks straight. The Kinaschuk household in general is full of awesome people, one time Clarke and i got high - one of few occasions - and went back to his place to munch out. Kyle came downstairs to accompany us. If you're aware of Kyle, you know he's edge and can be a very bizarre person to be around even when sober. I was a little overwhelmed and could hardly keep up with Kyle's speech, and Clarke just fucked with everything he could find from what i remember.

What is your opinion on the pope telling Britain to re-introduce religion into public discourse?

In a way i don't understand why religion shouldn't be allowed in public discourse, since open dialogue between groups explaining their moral views and interpretations of the sacred should always be allowed, so long as vague, ancient scripture doesn't interfere with legislation and other governance. However, I think it'd be great to see a bunch of British MPs telling the pope to "bug aff ya blimey catholic prick", and then Richard Dawkins rides his black chariot across St. Peter's square to behead every cardinal with a black iron scythe, and ultimately crucify the pope upside down with other members of the scientific inquisition.

What is some advice that you would give to other guys regarding sex?

Random hook ups will hardly help you improve yourself in the sack, commitment to one woman trains you. Always ask if something feels uncomfortable. Always stop if it hurts. Slow down if you're climaxing too fast (it also helps with erectile dysfunction, which i've had from time to time. just go easy and work on a soft position where you can stimulate your helmet well, then get back into it, she won't care). And if you're a couple that's pretty much missionary only, go deep enough that you rub her clit with the base where your pubes are, typically this helps her with an orgasm in most cases. also, in your free time, learn how to coast, it can come in extremely handy if you're into giving facials and feeding her your life force.

For you is weed more recreational or is there a spiritual element?

Weed is more of a recreational hobby and medicine than something of spiritual value. While it can certainly improve many sensual stimuli, I'd hardly say it leads to mystical experiences, aside from digesting a massive amount, which I heard can be beyond the intensity of fair-sized dosages of most hallucinogens in the tryptamine and phenethylamine compound families. Weed is pretty cool and everything, but is certainly not enlightening, and in most cases just makes you dull with excessive use.

So you're the socially/philosophy buff on Jurassic Park. What are some things that you have been contemplating recently?

I'm contemplating why I'm considered the philosophy buff of JP. Tbh though for the most part I just contemplate suicide or whether or not I should just subscribe to absurdism and suck up my shit. Beyond that though, I'm just always thinking there's only so much you can imbibe from age-old thinkers who constantly contradict and espouse one another's propositions, and that a perfect perspective will personally arise by pluralizing the compatible beliefs of those various thinkers under whatever circumstances you've been given and feel are adaptable to your character. But you've got to be able to prove or at least clearly and convincingly communicate your metaphysical concepts, and smoking weed certainly won't help with your conclusions - scientific method will however, for the most part. Stay skeptical, never draw conclusions too early, don't be surprised if someone critically kicks the shit out of your ideas, and safely assume the worst - always the things I take into consideration.

INTERVIEW
WITH

ZONERS

1.Have you ever made a bong out of a subway bag?

Sadly I have never made a bong out of a subway bag. But ever since its been brought up I’m almost curious enough to attempt it, I do live about 3 minutes away from a subway and walking distance to about everything a stoner could ask for. The grocery store next to my place sells $20 hookahs and the bubble tea/chinese restaurant place is open till midnight but the guy who owns it hates me because I always go in there high. Pothead paradise though.

2.How old were you when you started smoking weed? What got you into it?

The first time I ever smoked grass was probably when I was 14? I distinctly remember meeting up with this guy Emmett, he was hanging out with his entire hockey team that night. So i walk up to this big group of gorillas standing in a parking lot outside of a McDonald’s and right away once I get up to them and say hi they all are just staring at me. I’m positive they watched me walk up the entire time, I mean who wouldn’t stare at some girl wearing a mini mouse shirt, 10 foot black hair filled with hello kitty bows and a my chemical romance backpack, you know probably judging and seeing if the group has pronounced me worthy enough. Finally the guy who I was meeting up with asked if I wanted to smoke a blunt with the team. Me being a stupid little girl, you know trying to impress the cool kids, acting like I know everything about everything, words just start falling out of my mouth. "Fuk ya guy light dat shit up I’m ready to party." Most likely there was some kind of hand movement, watch any Eminem video and I probably did some of those hand movements. I don’t know if you have ever smoked a blunt before but its almost on another level, I took 3 big puffs in a row, exhaled... no coughed and choked it all out and it was like a punch to the face, it hit me. I was so ripped man. I never felt how I felt before and I thought I did it wrong because suddenly my legs gave in and I ended up laying in that parking lot surrounded by a bunch of dudes probably thinking I inhaled glue before I met up. I had a hard time talking properly and my whole body felt new sensations. It was great, but at one point I was convinced I was going to die. Thank god (or satan?) but somehow they got me to east side Marios, I munched out and after that I was fine.

3.Do you do it purely recreationally, or do you feel that it has a spiritual element to it?

Its so hard to try and explain something when you can’t fully figure out why you do that thing and like it so much. Everything is so contradicting and not simple. All I know is I never felt a spiritual element to smoking pot, but it depends what you mean by spiritual. I’m sure if I were to go on a 17 hour hike in the great forests of india with a bunch of buddhists and pray but smoke a joint before hand I’m almost sure I would feel spiritual but I just feel different in everything I do when I’m high. I’m more intrigued, I want to learn, I want to get to know people, I want to eat crazy foods, I want talk to people, I want to listen to great music, I want to have a heavy deep thought process, I want to laugh at stupid things, I want to trip out and walk around and discover stuff that blows your mind. It’s like doing normal everyday things but doing and feeling it in a different way. That’s how I can kinda explain why I do it. It’s like your so in tune to everything surrounding you. I enjoy people more and I appreciate a lot of things. Shit makes you think you know, I've been thinking about life a lot lately.

4.What are your favorite songs/movies to be high to?

The question really should be name all genres and tell me the best bands/artists from each genre that are good to listen to when your high but it all depends what mood i’m in, right now a tribe called quest and godspeed you black emperor are great. I am always a bigger fan of watching bands live, I would choose seeing a band play in front of me rather that listening to them on a stereo. Calgary has some really amazing stuff its pumping out.
For movies, I would say any disney movie from the 90s, but only because I have an obsession with subliminal messages they stuff in their movies, any harmony korine flick, documentaries are always a good choice... I just don’t want to name off all the ones I like watching baked because i’ll be typing on here for hours.

5.Do you feel that drugs in general have become the party, or do they simply complement the party?

It depends, most of the time I feel it compliments the party quite well but it’s always going to be the "it depends" kind of thing. It depends on what kind of party you’re at, what krew your with and who they are and who’s going to be there and what their opinion of smoking marijuana is. You'll be surprised on how many kids hate it and don’t have a problem telling/preaching to you about how horrible the drug is but it’s always nice to meet the people who do smoke it and will share their joint with you and just have a good time.

6.What do you like better, being drunk or high? Why?

I actually hate drinking. The taste of liquor is incredibly horrible and every time I get drunk I’m either crying for no reason or I’m smashing my head off the floor or off a table/cabinents/walls/other people's heads... well you get the point. Also remembering your night and not wanting to slit your throat the next morning is cool I always like that. If you like drinking just make sure you never drink a big bear, cheap vodka and $10 wine in one night. Tell me how that goes and you'll probably have the same opinion as me. I’m trying this new thing, being sober when I go places, it’s actually a lot more fun than you think. Don’t get me wrong, drinking can be fun but i don’t have it when I drink anymore and I think it’s because I see how some people act when they’re drunk and how other people react and I never want to get to that state and I always hate feeling like a dumbass.

7.What do you like most about being high?

Eating. Food is amazing and I think we should all eat it and really enjoy it more often.

8.What is the craziest thing you've done while high?

The first thing that pops in my head is when me and a couple friends went to go see the meteor shower that the mustache manor planned sometime in the summer. I remember getting really high with my friend and then we met up with everyone. There was about 10 other cars driving and we all drove out to the middle of no where like 2 hours away from Calgary in the middle of the night. We get there and everyone was blowing up air mattresses and once that was done everyone walked to the field, turned the lights off, smoked a couple joints, laid down and looked up. I remember just seeing all these stars and a few meteors, it was like being in one of those dome movie theaters, everywhere you looked there was just a bunch of stars almost surrounding you and the amount of stars there was almost lighting up the sky. I think it was crazy to me because I don’t think a lot of people do something like that. I remember sitting up and looking around seeing all these kids , on air mattresses, in the middle of no where in a dark field just watching space. Me and the people I came with, we left earlier than everyone else because it got really cloudy after awhile and it was like 5AM. So we are driving and driving and driving and it feels like eternity and of course we ended up reached a point where there was 2 roads and we chose the wrong one and ended up getting lost but we just kept driving and then suddenly we hit a dead end and hidden in the trees there’s this sign that reads DEVILS RANCH. shits so sketchy and scary when your high so we peaced as soon as we saw the sign and somehow got back to Calgary. It was an interesting night.

9.Do you believe that weed should be decriminalized, legalized or should it remain illegal?

Legal. It's virtually more harmless then most things and it would make everything easier.... well to people who smoke dope but at the same time it is a drug and drugs are well... drugs. Naturally its going to come with negative outcomes and I do understand why it’s illegal but it helps people more than harms them I think.

10.Do you have a message for opponents of weed?

Either you dig it or you don’t. My opinion wont change and neither will any one else’s. Me and many others like smoking weed and its cool, and if you don’t like it then that’s cool too but I think that everyone should at least try it once because you might really like it. My 1 rule is never smoke weed everyday, it puts a toll on your body and your mind if you do it too much.

None of that ~SWED~ shit, i find that incredibly annoying.

"Sleep, Tan, Club."
INTERVIEW WITH
DANIELA

1. So for those who don't know you why don't you tell us a bit about yourself. Who are you, where are you from, what do you do etc.

There really isn't a lot to say about me right off the bat. I just know that I love Jersey shore, I love being tan, and in my spare time, I like to get sheesha, go to the mall, tan, chill with cuties, and my favoooriitee- hit the bars

2. So you were emo/indie then you converted to chongo-ism. How long ago did this occur and what prompted this conversion?

Once upon a time I made out with a really hot chochy boy and thought...these dudes are hot and they'd never go for an emo broad!! It was time to switch it up.

3. How did you actually physically transform yourself into a chongo?

I went through an ugly phase during which I literally just looked like shit!! My hair was fried as hell, I was white as shit...it was not a good look at all. I recently perfected everything so now I'm where I wanna be!!! It all started with the hair...defs had to get rid of the black...and then I definately had to get tanning. Luckily, I got a job at a tanning salon too so now I can maintain my color a lot easier!! So there we go... hair, color, clothes, and then of course lifestyle.

4. How has chongo-ism changed your life?

Hah I wouldnt call it that, pshht. Lame-o

5. Has chongo-ism changed your perspective on life and/or your values, or do you feel that you've had the same mindset all along and chongo-ism is just a change of clothes?

Omg completely new values. I used to be the most boring lil prude anyones ever known. The only thing thats changed is that now I really know how to have a good time. Live it up.

6. If you think that chongo-ism is more than just a change of clothes, what do you think are some of the key elements of the chongo mindset?

You cant give a fuck about anything you do. Simple as that.

7. What is your personal outlook on life?

Stay tan, stay wasted, stay involved.
Sleep, tan, club.

8. I know from reading your statuses that you've had a lot of problems with boys. How would you describe the chongo male. What are some weaknesses and strengths of the chongo male versus the indie male?

The problem with sexy tanned juiceheads is that they know they can get any girl they want so why would they settle for one? A lot of them are actually also closet homosexuals who are into like...gay stuff. I would never blow anyone's cover but I mean, some guys really are noooot that straight! Weaknesses have to be that these sexy dbags would never commit but come on...they are usually fine as fuck and down for a good mack so..live your life!

9. You're obviously widely known for your tanned body. How many hours do you tan a week? What got you into it?

I tan for 80 + minutes a week (I calculated!) And it all started when one day, I decided to just try it out cause I realized I am into tan chicks. Anddd its all history from there ! Im obsessed. The only thing that makes me happier than getting darker is helping other people be perfect with their skin tones.

10. I know some people have commented on your statuses claiming that you're going to get skin cancer and you have retorted by saying they're wrong. I was wondering if you could expand on this. Are tanning beds really dangerous?

I took an actual course concerning these effects and Ive done so much research. The "Fear of the sun" is a multi-million dollar industry which revolves around getting people to spend money on sunscreens, treatments, etc. The indoor tanning industry is actually extremely successful but many powerful people hope to shut it down because the things that are said to cure skin cancer and prevent it actually bring in a shit load of revenue. The truth behind tanning is- it is only harmful if you burn yourself. In moderation, it is extremely beneficial. It helps provide your body with Vitamin D and also helps protect you from the common cold!! In moderation, it is actually wonderful. The same people that claim I'll get cancer are the people who sit outside on sunny days and get color. Tanning outside is actually extremely more dangerous than tanning indoors because the sunlight is NOT being controlled. It is never consistent and you can burn much easier. The darkening of the skin is a natural reaction that is caused by the melanin in the skin and it is not harmful. As for the "leathery" skin myth, that's prevented when you use proper lotions and moisturizers when tanning.

11. How do you prepare for a night of partying? Do you have any pre-partying rituals or interesting makeup strategies?

Night of partying rituals....I have more like WEEK of partying rituals. Every day is preperation for the weekend. Tomorrow is Wednesday and Ultrafest is on Friday meaning tomorrow, I need to get a spray tan and go buy new clothes. And as for Friday, makeup is pretty much the same except I have to put on eyelashes and fill my lips in so they look bigger. Then predrink, train it, and get yo party on bitch.

12. It's been widely documented that sometimes when you go to the club you engage in relations of an intimate nature with males. What do you have to say to girls who might call you a whore?

Whore is the most pathetic insult I have ever heard of and I can't take it as a serious insult when I hear it. Surprisingly, I don't hear it often because I surround myself with nice people and when I do hear it, it comes from people who I know are not worth my time its about having fun. You're not young and hot forever.

13. What advice would you give to young girls who want to follow in your footsteps?

Tan and mack on.

INTERVIEW WITH
ANDREW HIGGINS
FALL CITY FALL

1. So how long was this past tour and how many stops did you have?

We were on tour for a little over a month this summer. We played 21 dates in 19 different cities and towns from Vancouver to Montreal.

2. What's an average day like on tour?

An average day consists of waking up anywhere between 6 AM and 12 noon (depending on the drive that needs to be done) and then getting to whatever place we're playing that night. Usually we get there only an hour or so before load-in so there isn't much time to see the city. We more or less just get all the things into the venue and set up then wait around and watch the other bands play. After the show we either drive a portion of the next day's distance or crash at a friends house if there is one. It's by no means a glamourous life style. It's exhausting, expensive, trying, and can squeeze the passion for music right out of you.

3. When you get to a city, do you feel like you actually become part of that city's scene for the time your there, or is it just like another stop on the map?

That's a good question. For us it depends on the city. In a place like Saskatoon where we have a ton of friends and play consistently its like going home in a way. Edmonton is the same way. However a place like Vancouver or Toronto is a brand new scene to us so we treat each of those shows like a first date or something. Each city has its own tastes so it's really hard to be a part of every single one of them.

4. What do you think about Canada's metalcore scene as a whole? Do you think that it's just a trend with a lot of young people, or is it actually going somewhere?

That's a huge question!
I think if people don't 'wake up' the Canadian metalcore scene will be pretty much dead before long. Especially out west. The east still loves its breakdowns, As I lay Dying riffs and bass drops so it'll be ok for a while, haha. Out here the music has more heart, you know? We have lot more hardcore influence out here for some reason and I find the hardcore scene to have a lot more passion and message. So when I say that the scene needs to 'wake up' I mean it needs to discover the heart in music and the unbelievable power that heavy music holds in its ability to carry a meaningful message. Not many other genres can rival it in that respect.
SO yes, I think that Canadian metalcore is going somewhere. Heavy music is becoming increasingly mainstream and that open door paired with true heart and passion will be unstoppable.

5. What are some other Canadian metalcore bands that you've played with that people in Calgary might not know about.

Too many! Haha.. it's actually overwhelming. The highlights from this tour were:
Strangers from SK who are definitely worth checking out - great musicians and guest vocals from Carl of Mis Sigs on their EP.
As Bold as Lions, our good friends from Edmonton who played Warped this year.
My Daughter the Ranger from Vancouver Island, cool band and good guys.
Fame, who for some reason don't do well in Calgary.. but they rule and landed the opening spot for the THSD tour in Winnipeg. Probably because again, they rule.
Interestingly the only metalcore bands that were truly enjoyable are from the west, hahaa! But to be fair we don't know the east that well - I'm sure there's tons of cool bands out there.

6. As far as metalcore scenes, what would be your top three cities?

For us the top 3 scenes are Calgary, Saskatoon, and Edmonton. I mean.. those are just where we do the best. Montreal was super cool too. Calgary has some really dedicated promoters and an awesome core group that goes to almost every show. Edmonton has one of the most amazing venues at Avenue Theatre and Phil and Greg are just the best dudes. Shawn Cuthand in Saskatoon is so instrumental to the Western Canadian scene, that guy deserves so many thanks. The people in that city just seem to be into almost anything and that rules.

7. I know you guys made a lot of statuses about Montreal. What was that like?

We made so many statuses cause we were there for a whole week! haa.. but naah, that city is amazing. well, and demoralizing. See, the city and the people there are unreal and the music scene is alive and well but I heard sooo much Blindwitness-core that I just about lost it. Breaking the Fourth Wall is doing some really important work out there and they need everyones support. We also saw Texas in July and Mychildren Mybride while staying out there and that gave a look at what the US is up to right now. I hope to God in Heaven that we don't start making a standard of choreographed stage moves and cheap tricks like they did. That being said.. I would endure untold amounts of Blindwitness-core to be able to live in a place that had poutine as good as it was there.

8. Did any cool shit happen. Was there any fights? Did anyone get naked? Was there any wild groupies? Was there police?

haaa! FCF is a pretty boring group of guys.. we don't drink like a lot of bands and we dont party hard on tour cause there's too much to do all the time and it costs too much. BTFW though.. the cops got called on Matt the vocalist by a venue owner who legitimately thought he was on crazy drugs during a performance. Matt's straight edge. Felix loves being 'free' with his body, so we saw a lot of it. They keep us young. We also went to what is supposedly one of the most haunted places in all of Canada called Fort San in Fort Qu'Appelle, SK. That was crazy. We crept through these underground tunnels beneath the hospital and stuff.. it was creepy. The only wild groupies we saw were following For The Weekend around in Sylvan Lake, aha. Aaand though our Tour Manager Rob Cripps tried his hardest we didn't get in any fights.

9. What do you think is the coolest thing about being a metalcore band on tour?

The coolest thing about being in a metalcore band on tour is the new kinds of bacteria you can grow on the floor of the van! Science rules!

10. What music do you listen to on the road?

Anything I guess. When Keenan gets to pick it's hip-hop, when Nathan picks it's Secret and Whisper, when Jordon picks it's Dillinger, and when I pick its a Fuck the Tundra that they're all sick of.

11. Now that you're back what are your plans?

We're looking at some new musical directions. We were exposed to a lot of cool new bands by our friends in Montreal and a lot of crappy metalcore at various shows so we have some ideas of what we definitely do and do not want to do. we're also starting to look at a couple more tours before everybody gets snowed in. Calgary locals should get stoked for what we're going to make another huge show. CD release was awesome, but we're still looking bigger!

8 QUESTIONS WITH
NATHAN ZORN

1. So you guys have been out in Van since the first recording. How has that been?

Haha, Vancouver is awesome, minus the rain.

2. What do you do out there in between sessions?

Play halo and watch fresh prince.

3. What's the atmosphere like in the studio?

The atmosphere is "like new socks."

4. What direction do you think this new album is going in?

The album is a lot darker and pissed off then anything we have written before.

5. Where do you see FCF by the end of the year?

Touring as much as possible.

6. Why did you chose Van to record it and not Calgary?

We picked Vancouver because Calgary doesn't have much to offer when it comes to good quality recording and stu mckillop is a god among men.

7. What are the lineup changes that FCF has gone through?

Talyor left and we picked up our good buddy jordan to play guitar.

8. Are there any FCF tours lined up for this summer?

We have plans for the summer, but that will all come out in time.
