On The Eve Of Destruction

Interview

1. What are some of the main differences that gamers can expect when moving from MW2 to Black Ops?

Well, in Black Ops theyve removed Quickscoping, thats a very big thing for gamers because there's the really annoying community of quickscopers who solely believe if you can't quickscope it's bad. They also think that pro's quickscope, but theres never been a single MLG player that quickscopes in a real match. Also, theyve removed Stopping Power and a different type of Marathon. Marathon is now a Tier 3 (Green) perk and has been reverted back to its Extreme Conditioning effect, where you can only run for an extended amount of time instead of endless sprint. Removing Stopping Power will change the face of the game, it balances EVERYTHING. Your character model is changed by your Tier 1 (Red) perk, and you are able to change your character faction. For example, if you have Lightwieght perk on, your character is lightly armored but while on the Create-A-Class Menu you are able to hit LB or RB to change your faction which adds even more depth to character options. Remember, this does NOT change the faction you play as ingame, it is simply changing your model. Zombies have returned and once again, like how WaW started, you MUST complete the campaign to play the new Zombies maps. There are two new zombies maps, one you are able to play as some of the worlds most renowned leaders such as JFK, Castro, Nixon, etc. and in the other, our great Zombie Hunting group from WaW has returned! The german, the Russian, the American and the Asian (I'm unsure of there names, i forgot them.) Killstreaks have also been changed, they only go upto 11 Kills but they have brought back Dogs from WaW. Get 11 kills with this killstreak unlocked, and unleash the dogs! Chopper gunner has also returned, but now it is MUCH more interactive. now you must actually drive the chopper to where you please, hop off the driver, then hop on the turret while a copilot (or autopilot) circles that area while you are mounting the minigun. There have also been two interesting streaks added to Care Packages, these ones are actually Weapons. The Grim Reaper and the Death Machine. The Grim Reaper is an RPG that shoots out four rockets all at once, causing absolute devastation to your enemies and the Death Machine is a gatling gun (minigun) made to walk around with! You cannot aim down the site while you have th Death Machine equipped, but nothings better than being Rambo and hipfiriing with an abnormally large gun! Do you remember Heavy Gunner from Team Fortress 2? Yeah. That. And for campaign, it is set from the Cold War and sometime around the 90's, if not the present. Very intense, Very indepth story. It feels alot more "real" and gritted. It takes place in Cuba, Vietnam, Northern Russia, America, South American Rain forests, almost everywhere! Not to mention, you can play it alone or go play 4 Player Co-op with friends. Spec Ops has been removed, because it was near pointless. The greatest perk about Black Ops is that the Campaign Maps are based off of the Multiplayer Maps, instead of vice versa, which makes players look forward to a great and amazing multiplayer. You can also Prestige 15 times now, but you only go to Level 50 online. Everything online in the shop costs the same amount of credits, so theres really no reason to hack 10th prestige anymore. Instead of earning attachments, you just pay for them with your CoD Points. There is only four snipers, and the Famas is now automatic. The MP5K has returned BUT it resembles that of the CoD4 MP5 which Pro players will go nuts for. The M16 Makes a return, but its an earlier model. Its still three burst, and once again plays alot more like CoD4s M16, which, once again, the pros will go nuts for. Theres plenty of Camos to choose from, so you are not restricted to simply 6 or 7 camos. Also, theyve introduced Facepaints to add to the character customization and theres alot to choose from. Everything ranges from about 100points-1000points in costs. Theres a new mode called Boot Camp (i think thats what its called.) that allows the community to practice up, whether its integrating a player from Calm and steady singleplayer to heavy multiplayer, or giving a pro a helping hand in deciding which gun they should choose from or test, or even time! In this gametype you play with yourself, against however many bots in whatever gametype. Its so purpose is to integrate Singleplayer lovers to Multiplayer, and be able to enjoy it! Theres so much more thats new, enjoyable, and fresh to the community that theres just to much to explain at this point. Also, to add to hacking prestiges, Treyarch has almost tripled their code layers, meaning it’s a very hard job to crack the game but hey if you’re a coder out there, and you happen to crack Black Ops, be ready to pack your bags and start working for them! Sure your current gamertag will be permabanned, but I hear Treyarch’s good pay. If you want to take a look yourself, there’s leaked footage posted almost everyday and the Call of Duty Wiki has everything you could possibly want to know about it, such as Splitscreen Online Co-Op and theatre, both great ideas borrowed from Halo thatve been integrated into Black Ops.

2. Have you started developing strategies yet? If so what are they?

Ive been looking at some of the new stuff, such as Decoy grenades which put a red dot on the enemies radar, making them believe someone is there. I most likely will play alot around with stealth and my own call of duty tactics, which mostly is comprised of playing it smart, being the enemy, etc. I keep my guns unsilenced, kill someone, run away, watch the spot I just killed someone at and wait for them or a teamate to come for the revenge kill, kill them, repeat, and constantly stay moving along the corners of the map. I play as if my gun only has a clip of bullets left, disciplining my shots and making them very accurrate and percise. As for planting bombs, i'll find my rush plant routes and simply take the risk! Grab bomb, run to bombsite, throw down a smoke nade, get planting asap, planted, run off and cover the bomb. Also, with red dot customization i'll be making those killcams look good with a Purple skull as my red dot! I’ve been debating what gun to start with, it’s between Famas, MPL and MP5K Prototype.

3. What are some other games that you're checking out this fall?

Ive purchased New Vegas and Reach, Medal of Honor has really turned me off because Infinity Ward is disentegrating, and all the IW Ex-Designers have went to the dark side and went to Dice, the producers of Medal of Honor and Bad Company. This is why MoH has alot of CoD stuff in it, when IGN's editor says "It's the best of MW2 and Bad Company," thats because Moh/Bad Company is falling behind in the first person shooter world. New Vegas has been treating me well, its a great game and super addicting like Fallout 3! theres more factions to choose from, and it is hands down the greatest post-apocolypse game ever made. A free, open world where you are the player. I’ve also been enjoying a game of World at War here and there, simply to make sure I still have my skills ready to rock Black Ops. Other then those few, I’ve been playing a indie computer game called Minecraft. It’s such an original game, it looks ridiculous, but once you get started, it’s absolutely awesome. I enjoy my indie games with a lot of potential, such as Minecraft and LIMBO from the XBLA. I played a lot of Reach recently, but I think I’m bored of it now, it just seems like its starting to repeat itself. Even though they raised the level cap, it’s just sort of dull, although I’m a Commander Grade 1! A few days back I was invited to the Dr. Pepper Halo Reach $10,000 Dollar Tournament to play with team Perfection. I screamed like a Japanese school girl.

4. What do you think are some of the main things that you've learned in your one year playing MW2. What do you think its legacy will be?

In the recent year I’ve learned to mute everyone that makes any sort of obnoxious or annoying on noise on MW2, this including prepubescent boys who shouldn’t even have the game. I’ve also learned that even though the MW2 online community is more aggressive than hell itself, keep your cool, play the game, and whenever someone calls out “Tryhard” just remember, that’s just someones way of saying that youre better than them and simply keep your cool, don’t be a flamer online. I learned also that quickscoping is dumb, and such a waste of time simply because that’s ALLL people do on MW2, that’s really all the game has turned into now which is really sad. I remember seeing Optic play their MLG match and got disqualified, Dtreats quickscoped and ran show, he was jesus during that match and the commentators were just in awe of his skills. Nowadays though, its annoying because EVERYONE apparently is part of Optic now even though theres only twenty players on there team, but theres atleast five thousand gamertags with Optic in it. It really annoys me, and because of all the Optic imposters, they stepped down, and zzirGriz stepped down. I also learned that in doubles MLG matches, on defense, both you and your teammate MUST use thermal interventions, but on attack, one thermals while the other rushes and gives the other cover. Such an amazing tactic I learned from playing one of the top MLG Doubles teams, and ever since we took their tactics and made them our own (with our own style of course! We didn’t steal everything they did!) we ran show on Gamebattles MLG Doubles. During MW2, I built my own style of bursting that I’ve mastered, I AM Modern Warfare 2’s Samurai and burst king. Make every bullet count, have faith in those bursts. Always keep a low profile, don’t be scared to get into battle when necessary, don’t shoot anymore bullets than you need to, check your radar every time you can see a red-dot in your peripherals, don’t hesitate with your shots, think what the enemy would think and work around it, get a rush plant off and give yourself tunnel vision to the bombsite with NO interruptions, smoke grenades are more effective than you think they are when used effectively, get behind enemy lines as much as possible, but most of all, relax, keep a cool temper, and come out of those gunfights as the man who’s still standing! Improvise and be on your toes all the time, out of ammo? You have a secondary. Out of secondary? You have a knife. Not good at knifing? You have equipment, flash grenades and such do impact damage. Check every corner, even the tiniest crack but most of all, I’ve learned to just enjoy the game.
