In the poem, “The Convo”, the themes are many. Things like fate, god uncertainty, life, thankfulness, and realization are addressed. This poem is about a man, DMX, who’s having a conversation or a “convo” with God about his fate in life and how he should never give up no matter how hard it gets. During their conversation they also talk about DMX’s mistakes and how they are forgiven. God also tells him that he doesn’t have to be uncertain about where he’s going because he is there with him and will guide him.
DMX is an overall good guy who only does wrong if he must. This is shown when he says, “thou shall not steal but I will to eat”. It’s this sense of morality that has kept God on his good side. This badness has good intentions; he’s not at lost as he makes himself out to be. He really seems full of uncertainty in this poem and he really opens up to the reader. He shows this when he says, “here I am confused and full of questions”. Questions like “Am I born to lose?” and “is this
