The best years of our lives
Good days, bad days
Combined into one
Great parties
With drinking and all that fun
Working with hangovers
Getting into fights
A bunch of bad stuff
That you know is right
Boyfriends, best friends
Fakers galore
Schoolwork, homework
God, what a bore
Sleeping in on weekends
Staying up late at night
Walking in the rain
Sitting by firelight
Watching TV.
Or hanging in fives
Don’t you see
These are the best days of our lives
By Jennifer Ridsdale
Behind
Behind these eyes
Are tears of fear
Of getting hurt
By those held dear
Behind these lips
Are words unspoken
Of useless wishes
And hearts long broken
Behind this chest
Is a heart of pain
Overflowing with sorrow
And barely keeping sane
Behind what you see
Is a person you’ll never know
But if you look closely
Some feelings may show
The creature

Watching me
I know that it is
It’s been watching for a while
Waiting to strike
Waiting to surrender
To the bloodlust in it’s heart
It will get me
My blood will drip from its lips
As I watch it kill me
I will see a hunger in its eyes
A hunger being fed
A normality returning
And a fear from realization
Realization of what it’s done
But it earned its feast
And it took it’s time to do it
Working and waiting
Searching and stalking
It used its skills to get me
Ripping and clawing away
To break open the flesh
To breach the tender meat
To taste the blood
Upon it’s tough
To feel its warmth going down it’s thought
It deserved a feast for a king
It deserved to live
And experience a kill again
But guilt and shame
Will consume it
For taking another’s life
Depression will over lap it
Making its life dark
Shadows will follow it everywhere
Deeper into the darkness it will sink
Until the hunger returns
So overwhelming
That nothing else matters
But to satisfy it
So another must be found
Another must be watched
Another must be waited for
And another must be killed
