Pictures fade; Memories last.

Well, I've linked all of my friends pictures to their nexopia profiles so that everyone
can see what wonderful friends I have. I don’t think that it is necessary to write up
everyone an individual paragraph-long shoutout, but if you happen to be in a picture
down below, then it means that I wouldn’t be living my life as happily if you weren’t
in it, and so I guess this is just a thank you for being such a fantastic bunch of people.

think about it.
If you have food in the fridge, clothes on your back, a roof on your head and a place to sleep, you are richer than 75% of this world. If you have money in your bank, in your purse/wallet, and spare in a dish somewhere, you are among the top 8% of this worlds wealthy. If you woke up this morning with more health than illness, you are more blessed than the million who will not survive this week. If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation, you are ahead of 500 million people in the world. If you can read this message, you are more blessed than over two billion people in this world who cannot read at all. Should you find it hard to get to sleep tonight, just remember the homeless family who don't have a bed to lie on. Should you find yourself stuck in traffic, don't despair; there are people living in this world whom driving is an unheard privilege. Should you have a bad day at work, think of the man who has been out of work for the last three months. Should you despair over a relationship gone wrong, think of the person who has never known what its like to love and to be loved in return. Should you grieve the passing of another weekend, think of the woman in dire straits, working twelve hours a day, seven days a week, for $10.00 to feed her family. Should your car break down, leaving you miles away from assistance, think of the paraplegic who would love the opportunity to take that walk. Should you notice a grey hair in the mirror, think of the cancer patient in chemotherapy who wishes she had hair to examine. Should you find yourself at a loss asking "what is my purpose?" Be thankful: there are those who didn't live long enough to get the opportunity

hm.
when did we all become so serious.. and why is it that we can't just let
things slide with a little laugh and a punch in the arm anymore? everything
has become so severe now that we're older; the peer pressure, the
harrassment, and especially our actions and the consequences of them.
the friends you once swung on swings with are now snorting cocaine in the
bathroom of a party just down the street, and you have a restraining order
against the best friend you used to spend weeks with at a time. did you
see any of this coming back when you were playing with sidewalk chalk
back in the second grade? i sure didn't. everything was so simple; if you
purposely broke your brother's lego tower, you were grounded. now if you
were to smash someones pumpkin on halloween, you're surely going to get
smashed in the face. we used to make tye dye t-shirts at birthday parties,
and dress up like our favorite spice girl, and now we drink ourselves stupid,
climb into our cars, and kill innocent people. we now have to be so careful
that nothing gets slipped into our drinks because there's so many low-lifes
wandering around. it's just sad. you can't go to a party without seeing your
friend's faces beaten in by another one of your friends... you can't leave
a party without a face full of bear mase. life is complex because we make
it that way.

When I sign onto msn messenger, the first thing I always see is the red hearts, the roses, and the kisses plastered all over the screen like valentines threw up all over my desktop. Using these so carelessly, tossing one in here and there to enclose some name of the opposite sex, followed by an “I love you to death!” or a “you’re my everything”. I know what you’re almost certainly thinking… “Man this girl is bitter.” I’m not bitter; I just find it extremely entertaining when people consider dating someone for 2 weeks love. They “can’t imagine life without them” and it’s all so great and wonderful. They just can’t help but show everyone they love the other person by inserting lovey-dovey song lyrics in their names and using caps lock profusely to emphasis this point.
The most entertaining part for me is when that flower wilts, the heart grows a serious crack in it, and that lyric suddenly changes to something depressing. Girls are regrettably notorious for this. The guy is usually remotely unaffected by this, and it’s just time to eradicate the effortless initials from his plain msn name, if that. The girl is heartbroken and inconsolable over the ending of the 3 week relationship and will never love again; that is until next week when the next fellow comes along and sweeps her off her feet. Then she goes from being miserable over her ex boyfriend to calling him a jerk and insisting she never liked him as much as she does her new fling… who she loves by the way.
This amusing belittling of the term love is so humorous to watch. I find it funny when people just say it to make someone content. I LOVE YOU IS NOT A COMPLIMENT. Some people are just so dim-witted, and it’s hilarious.

Tragedy.
Tears well up in her swollen, red puffy eyes, and she winces with pain as her heart slowly seems to tear apart. The love of her life is gone… forever.

The person she loved, the person she hoped to spend her entire life with; reality forced itself to sink deeply into her heart as she sat there ever so still, mourning the immense loss in her life. No one could ever replace him, she thought, no one. All of her dreams came crashing down on her like glass, stinging her wet, tear-streaked face. The world seemed to fade before her crestfallen eyes, and she sobbed. She sat and she wept on the hard, cold concrete floor, clenching her delicate fists in grief. She cried even harder over her own selfish thoughts, she needed him right now, he couldn’t be gone. He couldn’t have left her alone… this couldn’t be happening. A dream is all this could be, she decided, just a nightmare; things like this don’t happen to people like us. Only good times should come for people so in love, people so blissful and content. They were to live happily ever after, and they had vowed that they would on the day of their marriage. She drifted into her memories of the day of their matrimony, forgetting the tragedy that had just been bestowed upon her. She reminisced about the moments that he vowed his love for her, and she did the same. They closed their hands with holy words, as they swore to love until death parted them. Surely his death had to be a mistake. It was not his time to leave this beautiful earth; the earth that he had unknowingly left the love of his life upon to face her heartbreaking life alone. Nothing would ever be the same, and she would never love anyone as much as she loved her dearly departed companion. As she slipped back into reality, she realized that life without him would not be life at all. She loved him with the entirety of her heart, and without him, her heart was useless. Still seated frozen on the floor, she took one last look at him, at his beautiful face, the one who gave up everything for her love. A final kiss on his warm lips, intended to bring them together for eternity. The pain of being in a different world from him was too much for her aching heart to bear any longer, so she made it brief. Her body collapsed on his, and a river of red surrounded the two star crossed lovers. This was true love, and not even in death would they part.

love is the only rational act.
"The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in. Let it come in.” –Mitch Albom (Tuesdays with Morrie)

Traditionally, we first learn to love from our parents, from our mother who nurtures us and kisses our boo boo’s better, and from our father who provides for us and keeps a roof over our heads. Of course, this is not the case in all circumstances, but I know that this is the first type of love that I experienced in life. As an infant, I didn’t know that I was supposed to love my parents. I was not aware that that was how it customarily happened. It just happened; sometimes love just happens. Love isn’t a decision that you make; it is an inevitable occurrence, a wonderful, inevitable occurrence. Have you ever heard the expression, “I love you, but I don’t have to like you”? Love is not something that we can not manipulate. We can’t just decide that we don’t want to love someone anymore. It’s true, love can fade away with time if we let it, but it’s just not commonly that simple. Love is the only rational occurrence because it comes naturally to us as humans. Love is reasonable, and it is understandable because it’s the only thing that we know makes sense. Love isn’t something that we choose to feel or choose not to, it is an emotion that consumes our soul and radiates wholesome happiness. People love to love because love knows no reason, and yet it is still sincere. There is no other feeling in the world that is better then knowing that we are loved. Everyone needs to feel cherished and special, and there is nothing in this world that is more valuable then that feeling. Love is so simple, we just tend to make it more intricate then it needs to be; Love is the only rational act.

fakes.
Fake people.
Sometimes I wonder if fake people know that they’re fake… or if
they really think that they’re some bubbly aura of personality; you
would assume that they know, but then again if they did, why
would they continue to be that way? We all know at least a few
people who are just complete phonies- I would have to estimate
that I know about three. For those of you who don’t know the kind
I’m referring to, these are the ones with that fake laugh, the ones
whose clothes match the exact style that’s “in” at the moment,
and the ones that stand in the back of a crowd and never say
anything unless someone else says it first. I sincerely question
how people can live life that way.. Always in second place. Yeah,
you come off to appear perfect, but you never win. You’ll never
have the most elaborate project to hand in, you’ll never get to
meet that new guy you’ve been dying to introduce yourself to.
You’ll be the one to get the A for content, but not for originality
because all you did was copy the example from the board. You’ll
have to sit back and watch your friend talk to that boy because
you didn’t start to talk to him until everyone else did, and now
you’re just another face in the crowd. You’ll be living life safely,
but you’ll never be great, and greatness, if anything, is something
worth striving for. People with fake personalities are always
the sidekicks or assistants because if given the opportunity to
do something out of their comfort zone, they won’t take the chance.
They’re always the ones laughing at jokes, and never the ones
getting the laughs. True, you won’t stumble on the mistakes
others might, but you’ll also never give anyone the motivation
to learn your name.
What a way to live.

Shakesperean sonnet.
She smiles across the boulevard tonight
Sincerely flashing her flawless white teeth
Glassy eyes twinkling beneath the streetlight
Light illuminating the sweet angel beneath

The world holds its breath, slightly unsure
As this beauty draws nearer, the setting dies
Whilst shadows encase all, except for her
And she still gazes with enchanting eyes

Her enticing scent streams to draw me in
Weightlessly, she drifts, longing to unite
An incessant enough wait it has been
She lingers eternally within sight

Then fear flashes in her angelic eyes
The bus swerves to a halt; an angel dies.
