Calen's Milestones

[March20] - 7:22pm born; 9 weeks early so a whole 4lbs 1oz, and 17inches long.
[March24] - first sponge bath; first time doing kangaroo care
[March25] - changed first diaper; moved to Pod H (level 2)
[March26] - IV taken out
[March28] - moved into cotbed (from isolet)
[March31] - 4lbs 2oz - Passed birthweight ;cord fell off
[April3] - first attempt at breastfeeding
[April15] - feeding tube taken out
[April16] - Passed carseat test
[April17] - time to come home ; exactly 4weeks in hospital
[June6] - First smile
[June26] - first cooing sounds
[July3] - Rolled from tummy to back for the first time

[Aug26] Baby Conceived
[Sept15] Look up pregnancy symptoms. Realize: It has to be true. I'm pregnant.
[Sept16]Home Pregnancy Test --Postive (eeekk!)
[Sept17] Second Home Pregnancy Test -- Positive again
[Sept30] First Ultrasound - 6 weeks and 4 days pregnant
[All Oct] Freaked out as hell
[Nov] Begin to be excited. I get to be a mommy
[Nov30] First appoinment with obestrician. I heard the heartbeat for the first time. Its official. I am in love! <33
[Dec8] I put my hands on my tummy today and I felt little fluttery movements. pretty sure its the baby moving around.
[Dec20]Second appointment with OB. Measured the heartbeat at around 150<33. She says there is no reason why we shouldn't be able to find out the sex.. so I am hoping/praying that tomorow I will be naming m darling daughter/son.
[Dec21]18 Week Ultrasound- its a boy!! He measured at 10oz (he's gonna be big..), and his heart rate was 141. The lady called him a "wriggly worm", because he was so active.
[Dec22]I felt the first kick.. it felt like a gas bubble popping as it hits your stomach..it was insane.
[Jan2]I'm halfway done! Oh ya!
[Jan3]Bought my first maternity clothes. It feels good to look sexy, and be pregnant
[Jan20]Tarryn and Alison put their hands on my tummy.. and were able to feel Calen moving (this was after I ate chocolate apparently it gets him really hyper) anyways.. their expressions were hilarious!
[Jan22]I watched my stomach moved as he kicked.. insane.
[Jan24]23 week appoinment with OB. Baby is healthy, bloodwork was good.. everything was good. I've gained 4lbs from my last visit which puts me at 134 or so now.
[Feb15]I went for my gestational diabetes test today. That sugary orange pop was disgusting. Oh well.. hopefully I don't have diabetes (though I do believe I am fine )
[Feb20] Enter the third trimester.
[Feb21] I gained 6lbs (140) and the baby's heartbeat sounded good. I don't have gestational diabetes . My doctor was surprised when we measured my belly.. its grown bigger and is a bigger size than how far along I am. Looks like this baby will definitly be coming a couple weeks early!!
[March8]He had the hiccups this morning, and woke me up haha. I'm also starting to feel really nervous I feel like this has crept up on me. As much as I am excited I am kinda scared to..
[March11] So I had the 3D ultrasound today. It is most definitly a boy! He is really really chubby. And I swear to god he has Cody's lips. (which btw are like Angelina Jolie lips haha..thats what it looks like anyways..) He sleeps like I do with his hands by his head. . His face was extremely squished against my placenta so we had a hard time getting a good picture without his nose all squished haha. His heart rate was a healthy 150.
[March14] 30week OB appointment today. I finally start going every two weeks . I've gained 5lbs, and am now weighing in at 145. My belly measurements were 31cm which is a week ahead of schedule. Baby's heartbeat was good, and his head is down. No more breech! Well unless he turns since he is still small enough to do so.. but he is in a good postion for labour now.
[March17-20]My labour really started Thursday night/Friday morning. I was getting contractions although I had no idea that is what they were. I thought I was just cramping up, and that it was nothing.
I went to Millie's Friday night, and the cramping continued. Again I did not realize they were actual contractions... they didn't hurt enough haha. Kyla looked over at me and said that I had been doing that pretty regularly and she figured we should time them..
so we did. At 11:30 everyone decided I needed to go to the hospital whether I liked it or not.
So I was admitted at the Misacordia. They injected me with steroids, put an IV in, and stuck a suppository (which was to try and stop the labour) up my ass... The resident and a nurse checked me, and I was 1cm dilated, 30% effaced, and my cervix was soft. After that they decided that I needed to be transferred to the Royal Alex because the Misacordia doesn't have the equipments for babies born at 30weeks. So at 5:30 in the morning I was transferred to the Royal Alex via an ambulance. (I was still getting irregular contractions) they checked me there, and I was 2cm dilated about 50% effaced.
I went and fell asleep for a few hours and got up around 9am. They took me in for an ultrasound and found that everything looked good. Calen was head down so there was nothing to worry about. My contractions died down during the day, and eventually stopped at around 8pm. I was on strict bed rest and only allowed to go pee. They gave me another shot of steroids before bed.
At 2am I woke up (this is Sunday morning) and I was having contractions again. I tried ignoring them till about 7am and that is when my mom went and got the nurse. They checked me again and I was 4cm dilated about 70% effaced, and my cervix was thinning out. They gave me a shot of morphine to slow down and hopefully stop the labour to give me a chance to sleep and keep Calen in there longer. My contractions did stop until about 8pm that night. They started to come back, and so the nurses gave me another shot of morphine. Again to stop my labour. I was out of it for about 12 hours. And my contractions started coming back.. at about 2pm in the afternoon (this is Monday) They checked me at 5 and i was 5cm dilated.
My contractions became REALLY BAD at 6:30pm. And I asked for something for the pain. I was screaming and rolling on the table.. Saying "I can't do this!!" The nurse asked if I wanted morphine again… And I said "No! I just want him to come out.. This labour is not getting stopped again." So they gave me a shot of Demerol (which did not take affect until after i had him..) I finally asked for an epidural because I was hurting so much, and they did an internal to see how far along i was.
I was 10cm dilated and ready to push. So no epidural for me! (this was just after 7pm)
They broke my water and than I started to push and at 7:22pm Calen was born. He was crying and breathing... and gorgeous.
He weighed 4lbs 1oz, and was 43cm long.
I had a second degree tear and needed 7stitches.
He is in NICU right now with oxygen helping him to breathe but its working out pretty well. the doctors are not worried and things are going awesome

I'm not a slut for getting prenant rather I am an amazing young girl because I am keeping the baby. I've made many mistakes in the past couple months that I regret completely, but I am going to do the best I can for me and my baby. Hopefully he/she will see someone who was strong, and did the best she could with the cards dealt to her. I love this child a million times more than I thought I could ever love someone, and I am going to do the best I can for him/her. Do not try and bring me down, because you will just end up making me a stronger person.[/center]
