Your God Made Me This Way :)
"The truth is, we DO want your children. Guess what we want them for? We want to teach them love and equality."
Gay marriage is legally preformed in the states of Vermont, New Hampshire, California, Iowa, Massachusetts, and in Washington, DC. New York and Rhode Island recognise existing gay marriages though they don't preform them.
And i'm proud to say that despite steven harper's efforts, im aloud to mary my girlfriend ANYWHERE in Canada.

The thing i don't get about people who are against gays is, they are in their own world of what is right and wrong, and REFUSE to listen to any points a gay person might have about being gay. Ironic, isn't it, consitering a gay person probably knows more about being gay than a straight person. (But i could be wrong.) Homophobic people don't want to believe that I, and all othehr homosexuals were born this way. They disregard legitimate scientific studies that almost definately prove that genetics determines sexuality. So if you believe in God, and you believe that God made man kind, you know he made our genetics, right? So, advanced chemical science says we were born gay because of the genes "God" gave us. And they say God doesn't make mistakes, so, i guess that only leaves the homophobes as the possible canditate for being wrong..... hmmm.....

Also, a lot of homophobic people worry that gays want their children. That we want to molest them or convert them or fill their brains with the devil's sodomy. The truth is, we DO want your children. Guess what we want them for? We want to teach them love and equality. We want to teach them that they can be accepted and loved no matter who they are. Is love and acceptance so wrong? I mean, isn't that was Jesus taught? Isn't that what the bible says god wants? LOVE AND ACCEPTANCE?! People say their god doesn't want hate. "love you neighbour." He says. Unless, of course, your neighbour is gay. Is that what god says? does god say, "unless your neighbour has different sexual orientation from you?" I don't think he says that. I was raised with bibles in my house in fact, and i never once read a part where god says "hate gays. forget everything i said about love and peace. hate the gays. hate them!"

people say being gay is a sin, too. but let's go over the seven dealy sins, shall we?
Pride
Envy
Gluttony
Lust
Anger
Greed
Sloth

No, i don't see "being gay" on that list either. Hmm, weird. They always say its a sin to be gay but it turns out that isn't one of the deadly sins after all. could it be that homophobes are looking for excuses to be ignorant, hiding behinmd their religion as if IT'S the hater, and not them?
Sure, some people are raised in a hateful environment. And sure, many churches are vehemently against homosexuality, but wait a second, isn't anger a sin?
(Jeez, homophobes, stop sinning!) Plus they're so proud of being straight and supposedly better. another sin! The only way it could be a sin to be gay was if you were a really slutty gay. and even then, that has nothing to do with homosexuality. sluts will be sluts and that's all there is to it. in fact, i think hetero sluts and homo sluts are about equal. so, we're all within rage of being stereotyped as sinners

anyways, im a queer.
and dude.... does that really EFFECT YOU in any way?
...think about it.

genetics are not conclusively the reason for one's sexuality. if you're going to write an article with such tone, you must to have correct facts.

although I do applaud you for writing an article with good intent.

Arguement 1027654 on this topic. Lol.

In any case, although I'm a supporter of homosexuality, I'm also a huge critic to any type of arguement posed in their defense. You're gay - big deal. If by choice, fine. If by genes, fine. The point is now you have that title. Whether you speak out about it is infact a choice. You don't hear heterosexual people outwardly saying, "I'M STRAIGHT".

Also, I'm assuming that in your article you were referring to Catholics - which is know to have an extreme. Even masturbation and bowel movements are thought of as bad and evil (on the extreme). So homosexuality is only one of many, don't feel special.

Lastly, society is always advancing. New generations, new ways of thinking, new social cultures. Being a homosexual in your thirties is vastly different from being homosexual in your twenties; it's waaaay more accepted now then it ever has been. So stop complaining. I haven't looked at your profile (yet), but I'm guessing you may be in your mid-teens? By the time you hit twenty, it'll be a whole new world. Being "gay" in teenage years is common, and the amount of critism you have to face is nothing comparred to the generation before you.

have you ever met a an AVERAGE gay man? they will hit on you, then give you shit about being straight, then continue to hit on you in an attempt to break you down enough to sleep with them... don't try and tell me straight people don't get hassled we just don't get hassled in the same way, but it's still ignorant.

actually it happens a majority of the time when you try and maintain conversation with gay men... i've had gay friends and most of them are superficial losers who only care about sleeping with you... i'm not saying being gay is wrong i am saying that when you use it for attention and try and use it as an excuse to be a piece of shit thats not right, and those are the people that get picked on for their sexuality, just like people pick on the straight arrogant assholes, or the straight overly nice guys... i'm sure it's been covered in an article before, but gay men are worse then most straight guys when it comes to being respectable... those gay people who actually do something to earn respect by fighting for their rights like the lawyers or doctors or even the rare gay politician are the ones who deserve to be respected.. as it should be with anyone in life, people are defined by their actions not by their problems

have you ever told a gay person "no" and still had them try and sleep with you? or turn around and do the exact same thing to another person? people give straight guys shit for doing the same thing, but when a gay person does it, it's just them being them... my apologies if i'm not coming off as accepting, but if i see anyone being a piece of shit i'm going to say something, i'd rather have character then be a pushover.

In my opinion, I don't really see the difference between a gay man hitting on you, and a woman you're not attracted to hitting on you.
It's the person who they are, not the fact that they're gay that makes them pushy or whatever you've experienced. Being gay has nothing to do with it. xD
Yes, you're not interested, but you're probably going to suffer through a lot more people whom you aren't interested hitting on you. Male or female.

Haha, that isn't a stereotype to set to gay men. That's a stereotype for men in general. You seem to have experienced the situation from the female side of things.

Gay guys who do that sort of thing, as I'm certain they're out there, are being assholes, yes.

However, they're just being the same kind of asshole as the startling majority of men. There's no excuse, no, but I wouldn't go ahead and label every gay man as an asshole. Just as I don't for straight men.

You're obviously a bit butthurt on the subject. You must've had some bad experiences, but you're still coming across as a homophobic fool.

Of course people don't walk around saying, "I'm straight and proud." Because straight people aren't still met with violent opposition from religious extremists and the like. Which is a point upintheair made already, but I think it should be reinforced.
Saying gay people should stop fighting for their rights because "things are way better than they used to be" is like telling women to stop protesting inequal treatment they receive because it's not as bad as it was in the fifties. There should be complete and total equality, not just 80%.
Telling them to stop whining is probably one of the most ignorant things you can say.

For everyone who posted negitive comments on this you really shouldn't have bothered. If you don't like what someone is saying DON'T BOTHER READING IT. You all wasted your time to read something you couldn't give two shits about just so you could tell someone off. Wow you should be really proud of yourselves. There are gay people in the world get over it. They didn't chose to be this way just like you jerks didn't chose to be straight. I really hope that life spites you and makes your children gay. Let's see what you have to say about it then.

If your going to write an effective article then get your facts straight.
The Christian faith follows the bible as word of God. And if you researched anything you would have read Leviticus 18:22 "Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.".

I'm not even religious and I know that.

And the state of Maine voted against gay marriage by the way

Straight people don't know what its like to be gay. You guys don't get hassled for being straight do you? So you shouldn't tell us to stop whining. Until you know what it's like than don't comment. Being straight, is that a choice or were you born that way? Same with gays, where born this way. We can't help who we like just like straight people can't. God made us this way cause its in our genetics. So don't say being gay is learned cause its not. It runs in my family as my Uncle is gay and my grandmas aunt was gay. Im not the type to go around saying Oh Im gay and Im proud. I am who I am and that's it. But some people want to be heard. Doesn't everyone? Im tired of society and close minded people. Open your eyes and put yourselves in our shoes. The bible contradicts itself a lot. Isn't incest a sin in the bible? People shouldn't be having sex with family members? So why are people like that getting away with that but Gays get discriminated against all the time?
Sinnocent - 22, Female, World
03:06am | Sep 26, '10
Straight people with a brother and best friend who're gay DO know what it's like
Don't try to indirectly tell me that I'm naive - I can walk my talk.

And yes, you still should stop whinning.
The main people you hear about getting hassled about their sexuality are the ones who walk around in assless chaps, waving rainbow flags OR the ones who're constantly throwing their sexuality out there in peoples faces. Again, from experience and knowing homosexuals who're more modest. You don't hear heterosexuals walking around saying, "I'm straight!", so no one bothers them or gets annoyed by them. Gays are people - they become irritating when they throw facts out about them that are completely irrelevant. Just as blacks get annoying after always throwing it out there that they're discriminated against. Sure, there are some out there. But majority of them are left to their own devices because society is ever advancing.

So shut the fuck up. Who cares if your gay?
And if anyone cares enough to hassle you about it, they're either ignorant and need a swift fist to the kisser, or you need to stop skipping in circles waving rainbow flags or sucking face with your s/o. If you're modest, no one will hold it against you.

if anyone here has half a brain they would realize that when you complain your just perpetuating an arguement, wich is just going to keep building and building and pissing more and more people off... so basically who cares what someone says about you being gay, ever heard the saying "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger" are you in pain do you need a doctor...no, good shut up about it already, and stop trying to get people to pity you... everyone has problems if you want respect you find the solution and don't just hope someone else will take care of it and make you feel better.

Again, I'm in agreement with Sinnocent. She summed it up pretty well. The more you throw something in someone's face, the more likely you're going to meet with opposition, and become a target for abuse.
The sad fact is that there will ALWAYS be people that dislike you for what you are, whether it's your skin color, sexual orientation, or religion (or lack thereof). What the hell kind of reaction would you get if you stood on a street corner and yelled "I'm WHITE and I'm proud... get used to it!"?
Just be thankful you live in a fairly open-minded country like Canada, because if you lived in a place like Iran, they would hang you. Bummer

K there's nothing wrong with being gay, just don't flirt with people that aren't gay, and if you don't make a big deal about being gay, other people won't make a big deal about you being gay.... Except if your taking it to far, and your a guy wearing tights, short shorts, and tank tops..That just pisses me off, if your gay cool, if your gay and your doing that, people should have a right to make fun of you

i say, good on you if you have the ability to stand up for yourself being gay in the type of society we live in. i'm not the type of person who will hate you for being gay, but i would like you to think about something for a second:
When God created the world and put man on the earth, he placed adam and eve here. a man and women. That should say alot about what God wanted.

actually they all said the same thing, they never intended people to worship them, they hoped that people would pull their heads out of their asses and start respecting each other and not just the people they call friends or are trying to date... what most people do when they decide to hate a religion is taking anything associated with religion, "love thy neighbour" and do the complete opposite to prove a point

Goodness gracious people.
This is her opinion, and if she has something to say, let her say it.

I know the Catholic Church gets a bad rap with this issue, but I believe they say (say, not necessarily enforce) that they have no issue with homosexuals as long as they do not give in to "temptation". Keep in mind, not all Catholics agree with this, and have no prejudice towards homosexuals.
In my own opinion, love is a very important. Everyone (I assume) wants to love and find love in return. Who am I to judge someone who wants that?
