Capital EX RAD
Pass Contest

If you’ve ever been to Capital EX (or Klondike Days) in Edmonton, you know how much fun it is to spend the day getting an awesome tan, trying all the rides, cheering at the concerts and of course, the deep fried frenzy of food.

Once again, we were happy to be giving away RAD (Ride All Day) passes for Capital EX!

WHAT YOU DID & WHAT YOU GOT

We were dishing out 23 pairs of RAD passes to Nex users this year! And all you had to do was name your top 3 favorite things at Capital EX.

WINNERS

*pear;

1: I like the farmers market, where you can get virgin margaritas with the little umbrella or you can find some nifty little gadget or purse.

2. The people for sure. Who knows if you'll run into your friend from Lougheed or Alliance? Maybe you will see a unique person. Capital Ex brings not just edmonton together, but people around the province.

3. I like that you can spend ALL day walking around there, without getting bored. There are awesome exhibits, concerts, shows, rides, vendors... It is never a day wasted going to Kdays.

(I would say the drool-worthy aroma of the infamous mini-doughnut, but in truth you can find those at any mid-way event.Wainwright Stampede, Jaywalkers in Camrose, The Fringe, it's not unique to Capital Ex)

Top three things I absolutely love about Capital Ex/Klondike Days:

1. The tasty cinnamon smell of mini doughnuts, who doesn't like them?
2. The adrenaline rush of the rides where it feels like you swallowed your stomach and its going to shoot out your bum.
3. All the people and the sounds. It feels like you should be filmed in a movie while there.

1. The creepy guys operating the rides, even if you are totally afraid of them, you can't stay away from the rides, sometimes they are nice and let you ride free too!

2. The Water Ride. You get soaked, are freezing for the rest of the day, but it's totally worth the adrenaline rush.

3. Deep fried Coca Cola. Even if you see it every year, you still laugh every single time that you see the food-stand advertising that.

1) THE SMELL.
Definitely my most favourite thing about Capital Ex. Whenever it's that time of the year, (my favorite time,) I drive past the grounds and get a whiff of that Capital Ex air, it's like heaven. It brings so much memories. It's honestly my favourite feeling that I've ever had.

2) ED FEST.
I loved seeing You Say Party! We Say Die! and Metric in the past few years. They choose really good music that is suitable for everyone. They usually choose a rap artist, country, classic rock, pop-rock, indie, and I love going to the indie ones. They never disappoint me.

3) THE PEOPLE.
At Capital Ex you get to see SOOO many different kinds of people. They show their true self. While I'm waiting in line for the Zipper or the Fireball, I see a random guy with no shirt, skinny jeans, and a bandanna and accessories run by singing. It's amazing, it's so fun to watch and the memories and time spent with friends is unforgettable. Definitely my favorite Edmonton time of the year. Folk Festival is second.

1) The gravitron. There is no way I could go to K-days without going on it! Even though it makes you feel hella sick, It is by far the best ride there!
2) Seeing everyone young and old, enjoying the summer, having fun and smiling. The carnival brings everyone together.
3) The fireworks. EVERY NIGHT! I remember being a kid and sitting on top of my freezer, watching them from my kitchen window.

Summer is nothing without Klondike Days! <3

poeticterrorism

1. The giant corn dogs. With mustard, please.

2. Watching moms squirm when the Australians always have a huge snake exhibit. Nothing like seeing a 10 foot snake curl around your 6 year old and just hang out while the Aussies casually chat about how that snake could eat a small deer.

3. How anyone and everyone shows up. If you don't like rides, at least Capital Ex is awesome for people watching. Old, young, big, small, they're all there.

hominid

1) The free concerts! So excited for K-OS this year.
2) They hypnotist. Who knows if it's real... but the show never fails to make me laugh.
3) The crowds! As much as the line-ups for the rides can suck... it's always nice to be around a bunch of happy people.

*SuperHero*

1. Defiantly all the amazing rides that throw you around and take you upside down.
Gives you a thrill you needed all year.

2. Being with my friends and fooling around
whether it be have a contest of who can go on a ride the most
or going on the little kids rides like those little walk through play places
(Cuckoo Haus or the Mardi Gras one)
or finally winning a toy from the rigged games.

3. The amazing view of the fireworks at night
when you're hanging upside down on the Ring of Fire.

SMARTYPANTS,.

1. the amazing music. there is always some really great band playing& you just wanna grab the person next to you& start dancing to your hearts content !
2. the rides. if you havent done each ride at least twice by the end of the day, then you havent experienced capital ex .
3. those cool little alien cups you get at that one juice place, i still have mine, : )

capital ex is the highlite of the summer, it's where everyone gets together to see each other& bask in all that is summer. you're guarenteed to run into friends you havent seen in a year& you'll probably run into a family member or two ( not sure if thats a good or bad thing, for some ) .
basically, its the best thing we anticipate all year.

vaccinated.

1) Being ecstatic that you spent 37$ to win a pathetic sized teddy bear and after 45 minutes you FINALLY won.
2) The slingshot, minus paying 80$ every time you want to ride.
3) How I see tons of friends that I haven't seen in a long time. It's kind of like a big huge reunion. =)

DirtInTheMud

If I said the Bingo tents I'd be lieing so instead

1) Edfest/Telus Stage - The music is an amazing part of Capital Ex, I remember seeing Twisted Sister on the Telus Stage in 1999(?) I think.

2) The Rides - what else could you ask for with all the spinning and flipping and turning and whirling, wow, its even a mouthful. Why not try the "washing machine" go on the logride first, get soaked, then make your way over to the gravitron and dry off...

3) Atmosphere - being able to stay in Edmonton and experience it all rather then drive out of town somewhere to just hang out with all your friends and show your friends from out of town, a small part of Edmonton.

HurricaneCat

1, i love gold panning, even tho its capital ex, there was once a klondike there.
2, i love the cocacola misty station on a day of walkin around in the hot sun.
3, and i love that the fireworks spectacle thats on everynight. Even when i didnt attend that day i could still see them from the porch of my appartment. :P It was pretty dope.

Also i moved around alot growing up and its hard not to run into a million people you lost touch with just walkin around.
