Q: What's your favorite Cold War Kid song and why?

"Don't let your love grow away (from me)" is my favourite song by Cold War Kids. Its lively and sings my life. I dedicated this song to my best friend (I've known him since I was 4 ) when he passed away. It has a lot of meaning to me personally because it helps him forever live with me. I listen to this song when I need to get pumped, almost as if he was right there to back me up.

Q: What's your favorite Cold War Kid song and why?

A: My all time favourite Cold War Kids song is 'We Used to Vacation' off of Robbers and Cowards.

The melody is a little bit haunting and creepy, but also keeps your foot tapping. The song progresses amazingly musically, and while the chorus and the verses don't really sound like they would go together, they work in harmony to paint a picture of a man truly struggling with his alcohol abuse and what it's doing to his family. You get a sense of the protaganists inner struggle a little bit at a time as they release more and more information throughout the verses, culminating with the lyrics

"I promised to my wife and children/I'd never touch another drink as long as I live/But even then it sounded so soothing/To mix a drink and sink into oblivion/I promised to my wife and children/That accident left everyone a little shook up/But at the meeting I felt so empty/This will blow over in time/This will all blow over in time"

That leads into a dramatic crescendo of noise, with Nathan contributing some insane-sounding "da da da's" as the song concludes.

Q: What's your favorite Cold War Kid song and why?

A: Favourite would have to be "We Used To Vacation". I just find the music really uplifting and I love the piano in it, while at the same time the lyrics are talking about an alcoholic dad trying to kick his habit for his family. It's a good mix of mellow and upbeat.
